osmolator pump

hi Roger,
It looks as though trouble shooting my osmolator has led me to believe my pump is bad as when the yellow light turns on the pump gives a weak effort then stops after about 10 seconds of working. After 10 minutes the red light will flash indicating malfunction. Now it doesn't seem to want to turn on at all.
It is only 6 months old, but does see a lot of use as it tops off a 1000g tank. Is this expected in this time frame?

I do not see the part number on the tunze website to order just the pump portion for osmolator 3155. Is there one or do I just have to order a whole new unit?
Thanks,
Steve

Actually the more usual cause of this problem is the juntion block getting wet. The wires will wick up water and corrode and the junction block may also be corroded. The corrosion increases the resistance to the point that it shuts off. This is a safety as if the 5017 is starved for power by excessive demand from the pump/ corroded wires it may act erratically and overfill so it is designed to shut down.

The pump is part 5000.020, they cost about $20 but it should last at least a year. Marine Depot stocks these pumps.
