Osmolator universal wire extensions?

Roger,
Can I extend the wires from the 2 sensors to the control module on the osmolator? I want to put the control in a closet next to my tank, which is also where my top-up container will be. I need the wires between the sensors and the control to be about 16'. Also, if i do this will the extra length of wire cause any problems, will the sensors still work properly?

By the way, I hooked it up to test........Love it! Now I just need to get these wires extended.
Thanks.

My other option that I was considering, if the sensor wires cannot be lengthened, is to keep the control in my stand and just lengthen the pump power wire to reach top-up container in the closet. But, I am not crazy about the idea of having the control in my stand with my sump ........moisture problems?

Your thoughts?
Thanks

It can be done but it isn't easy, their are 4 very tiny wires in the optic sensor cable that would have to be soldered and insulated in a splice. It would be much easier to lengthen the cable to the pump, you just need 20 gauge speaker wire to do that. You would have to be sure though the unit will not get wet, it absolutely cannot take water. I keep mine in my cabinets but i always keep lids on my sumps.

Ok.....If there a 4 wires inside the little cable to the optic sensor I'm not even going to consider that. I also plan on having a cover on my sump (with a few vent holes) so I shouldn't have to much moisture in the cabinet.

I think I will mount a small plastic container w/cover (such as Gladware, or something else that is clear), up high on the side wall inside my stand, and enclose the module inside the container just to be on the safe side. Then I will splice 20 gauge speaker wire to the pump in order to reach top-off container in the closet.

Any problems with this plan?

I appreciate your help, thanks alot

Sounds good but honestly I have not had problems with cabinet mounts unless they were right over an open sump.
