Osmolator & Water Depth

Hi Roger, can you tell me what the optical sensor's tolerance is relative to inches? Just wanting to know how far the water level will drop before the optical sensor triggers the controller to turn the pump on.

Thanks! :)

In inches it would be a small fraction of an inch, it is accurate to within 2mm, however the circuitry also features a time delay and overrun to minimize turning on from turbulence etc. The controller has to detect a low water level for 5-10 seconds before the pump turns on and it will pump for 5-10 seconds after a fill is registered to give a slight overfill and reduce the frequency it cycles on and off. Depending on the volume of the system this can result in a deviation greater than 2mm.

Wow, fantastic Roger. I originally set it up with a 3 gallon reservoir but would like to downsize it for a variety of reasons. Seeing how accurate it is I'm sure I can get away with a much smaller reservoir for both safety and to minimize TDS creep. The reservoir is plumbed to my RO/DI with a float valve.

The only issue I'm having at the moment is bubbles collecting on the optical sensor which fool it into thinking the water level is low. It's been less than 24hrs since I installed it so I'll keep an eye on it and allow some time for it to break in / slime over.

Thanks again! :)
