I have a new osmolator and have been trying to get it to work right for about a month. Based on the threads here, I've washed the sensor in hot soapy water several times. I also let it sit in the sump, without being plugged in, for a couple weeks. Last night, I soaked it in vinegar overnight (took some of the color off the black plastic) but nothing has worked. I've been very careful with it and don't believe I could have scratched the sensor. The problem is the pump keeps turning on even when the sensor is totally submerged. At times, it seems to work correctly for 15 minutes or so but then the pump will turn on even though the water level is above the sensor. It usually just turns on for about 10 seconds or so but the cycle keeps repeating-so that the water level actually rises pretty quickly. I've taken it out of the sump and tried it in a glass of water (to make sure it couldn't be any type of bubble/water quality problem) and it does the same thing-the pump turns on intermitently when the sensor is submerged. The pump is well below the sump and it does not appear to be a siphon problem-especially since the yellow light comes on indicating the pump is pumping the water. The control unit is mounted in the cabinet base but has never been in contact with the water. I've run out of things to try. Any suggestions or do I need to return the unit? Thanks! Matt
