osmollator ato siphon problem

when i fill my ato resovoir (18 gal) i sometimes find my sump level very high,
the only thing i can figure is my tunze is siphoning into my sump.does anyone else have this issue and can it be avoided?

A siphon will occur anytime the reservoir water level is above the end point of the hose, nothing can prevent this except solving this issue, either a shorter reservoir or pumping to a higher point, for that reason pumping to the main tank or overflow box is generally preferred.

That's what I use. But be warned I also buy a new Osmo pump every year (I don't think it likes the back pressure created).

Since the water siphons in the same direction the check valve would open, this will only work if the check valve causes a very high restriction and I would not recommend it, check valves can and do fail, if gravity fails, you will have worse problems to worry about.
