I'm looking at buying on of the systems. Not really sure whether to get xbox 360 or playstation 3. I play a lot of games like call of duty and other fighting games.

any advice?

i went with the 360 myself. and i love it, but i recommend getting the cooling pack, its 20 bucks and really makes a difference with the system if you play for more then a hour at a time. it plugs dirrectly into the system and you plug the main cord into the pack so it doesnt need its own power source.

i love it, xbox live and the game selection. graphics are sweet, not as good as the ps3 but still very very good

if you play primarily shooters, get a 360. but make sure you cool it cause it tends to burn out.
it has alos more games to choose from.

advantage w/ ps3 is that it has blue ray + no online gaming fee.
and its pretty all in one. w/ the 360, i find that i have to get a ton of add ons that come standard w/ the ps3.

i have a 360, because they are easily modded. I hacked mine, and now i can play burned games i have over 50 of them. Just download burn and play. NO need yo spend over 60 bucks on a game when you can get it for about 3 bucks which is what a DL-DVD+R cost.
and you put that in writing?

Can you play online though?

Keith I had both and sold the PS3. The graphics are a bit better on the PS3 but the online experience of the 360 is second to none. If you want a gaming console for shooting games and want an excellent online service - 360 if you want Bluray movies and crisper graphics than ps3.

get ps3, i believe 360 only plays HD videos which are obsolete. ps3 plays blueray

Give it time, they will come out with a blue-ray player too.

PS3. Superior build quality and a less than 1% failure rate. Incredible line-up for 2008 including Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Resistance 2. Best thing: No RRoD (Red Ring of Death). :)

I am a huge Gamer. I have all the systems and I play my ps3 the most. I dislike the Wii its not a gaming machine its a family console. If you want serious games your going to have to make a dissension that fits you.

The 360 had one true advantage and that was it was able to run the unreal engine. Which gave the 360 better frame rate and other perks but that issue has been solved. Just read this, there is a lot of issue with the hardware http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/855/855113p1.html?RSSwhen2008-02-26_133000&RSSid=855113

The PS3 will finally have a great library this year. Little big planet , PS HOME and lots of other first rate games.

i think ps3 is ALOT better then xbox.

i have my ps3 setup now too, that i can download music. movies. and pictures, and it streams it to my ps3 wirelessly to my big flat screen.
its real easy to setup too.

just was at target and found out that the ps3 will also act as a computer where I could surf the internet etc. that would solve my laptop dilemna. talked to a couple people...call of duty 4 is the same on both systems. gran tourismo 4 will be on ps3. those are the games i'm interested in. I like the fact that it has the blueray, (even though I don't have any blueray discs.) it's got he wireless internet built in vs. having to buy the wireless with the 360.

I think I'm going to get the ps3. I've had ps2 and loved it ever since I got it. I think I'm going to stay as a sony customer for now.

I'd still like to hear peoples inputs though. thanks.

I have a 360 and couldn't be happier. If your system does break, the exchange is very easily done. PS3 may have a good line-up this winter, but the 360 will be just as good, if not better. There are many exciting games coming out for it like Gears of War 2, Fable, F.E.A.R....these are all exclusives to the best of my knowledge.

I def recommend the fans for the back. The only time that I didn't run them, my system broke.

No, Microsoft has stated that the 360 will NOT support Blu-Ray. The only reason they kept supporting HDDVD was to keep consumers confused so they could sneak in their movie rental service over XBL and so consumers would have a clear choice for HD content. Sneaky bastards.

I've got a PS3, and don't play it regularly, but when I do, I'm glad I've got a PS3. Yes, it acts as a computer (hook up ANY wired or wireless USB keyboard or mouse, and bam, computer with web interface and wireless (built in).

Call of Duty 4 is a sick game, but I'll only touch it with a PC (sorry, PC Gaming purist). GT5 is going to be INSANITY!!!! I can't wait. I'm still a GT4 addict. Best racing ever. DIRT was a close second though, though in a totally different league. The Blu-Ray high def is great if you've got a HiDef TV and it keeps the future open because the PS3's firmware can change to accomodate new blu-ray features that standalone players will need to be replaced to accomodate.

PC>PS3>NES>XB360>Wii and don't question it :p

This sums it up pretty well. :)

LOL!!!!

Thats how I feel about it. They seem to come out with a new system every few years and then only some games work on some systems. How about buy a good PC and every year just upgrade your graphics or running memory and your good forever.

Good stuff though, picture- save as.
