I was at this show with my wife a few weekends ago. Unfortunately my camera was, unknowingly, set to ISO 800 all day so many shots had noise issues. I did, however, get a few macros that I enjoyed.
Don't you just hate that! I'm more of a newb than you so it happens to me more often I'm guessing. I use manual mode of the 30D exclusively to train me to look at the setting every shot and analyse the scene properly. I remember to set exposure, aperature and shutter speed but neglect ISO. Once I get a handle on stuff I might go back to shutter and aperature priority modes.
I'm always in manual as well. I even focus manually. I usually pay attention to that sort of thing but it just slipped my mind. The good news is that I use Canon. It'd been worse with any other camera.
