Anybody into sailing?

I just started sailing recently in the SF Bay on a Coronado 15. Just wondering if anybody else sails as a hobby?

I use to quite a bit. Sold the boat to help pay for college. I am getting the itch to start again. I have sailed in every ocean of the world.

When are you going to sell your boat? ;)

FS: Coronado 15

Sorry Art, I couldn't resist :D

haha omg you guys, lol.

it's not my boat, it's chartered =P

qwiv: that's awesome how you've sailed every ocean!! I want to sail the mediterranean one day, but I guess that's a "sea" =)

Variouse trips around the world. Our boat never made it off the Cali coast. My largest trip was from Hong Kong to Australia. We where on a research trip. The boat was quite large and I was by no means the captain. We did tow a few small boats with us however.

I heard the Instant Ocean was really tough to sail. Very salty. And very small, it used to be 200g, now it's only 160g. Global warming, I think! :p

Seriously, you've been in the Artic too? That is pretty cool. I'd love to take some sailing lessons!

I worked with a fellow who moved here from Boston because the sailing was better! I hear that crossing the mouth of the bay is quite a challenge.

While walking across the GGB with my visiting cousin, we watched the the coast guard (helicopter, patrol boat and rubber zodiac) retrieve a tipped over sailboat. And this is just 5 minutes after I told me cousin that "there is no way those things tip over, they have a massive keel that prevents that". They towed the boat in it's tipped over state to the Sausalito side. I guess righting a sailboat is not so simple. In fact I think the sailors were still on the tipped boat. Not sure why the coast guard didn't pull them off in the zodiac, but maybe leaving them on the boat was safer than having them go into the cold water??

Yah, the instant ocean use to be filled with shirts too.

I sailed the Arctic in Russia when I was on a summer european trip. That was a tough trip. And if you believe in the antarctic ocean, I might have made that. Went on a large voyage out of chili with an old girlfriend who use to live down there.

The boat we sailed in asia was a large asian 3 mast cargo ship. I don't know what the name was.

I'll race you on my power boat? LOL actually my boss go sailing a lot, but it seems too complicated, I don't wanna pick up another hobby. Reefing is enough to drive me broke.

we usally charter a Jeanneau 45+ when we are in the bay, its not cheap, but it handles well, I would love to charter a nice 50+ cat, I actually had a option to buy a 103 san penquinto, but I couldnt find a dock, the largest ones were 75, only in half moon bay could I find a end tie for it, but they wanted to raft up a few boats to it... yea right Im going to let them tie up to a 3mil boat.... but I still wished I bought her... a 15 coranodo is only like 700.00 in great shape... and can go on a trailer... so why charter it?

Well not really chartering it. My friend works at the place and takes us out for free =P

I don't have any equipment, but once I get a lot of sail time I'm looking to invest in a Rhodes 19 if I can find any around.

Any other under 20' boats you'd recommend (dinghey style)?
