OT: Any Shooters Out There

I am for following England's law on guns. I can and will support any ban on any guns in the USA, especially any auto, assault..or any non hunting gun, tough too discern. If you can't kill a deer with a bow then you are a wuss or bad shot. BTW I bow hunt! Just my humble voting opinion and I am for repealing the 2nd ammendment, it will never happen. good luck

OH. I do have a pellet gun from Cummings. Best buy on the market..wood stock and nice pump $19.95, they are off of Watson on the old Kendricks. I was not trying to hijack the thread. I did not see a real purpose for a reef site so I was just posting my opinion. good luck with your reef

If you want to reach out and touch someone barrett .50 cal with the auto compensating scope. I will have one of these eventually.

I have an Armalite AR-50 bolt action shoots same 50 cal ammo just not $50 worthin 10 seconds like the semi auto does.

I also agree on the buy a 45 if you are thinking 40. I dont even own a 40 as I didnt want to buy other kinds of ammo just 9 and 45 for all my automatic pistols except my little 22 sig.

I fired the Barrett when I was over there last year. I'm not an expert shooter by any means but hit ivans 1000 yards out with little issue. The MarSOF sniper who carried it was hitting targets close to a mile out like they were right in front of him. Its a hell of a weapon. I'm not really sure why anyone in the states would need/want one though. To each his own I guess.

Go big or go home guys, here's the biggest gun I've ever fired:

Where have I been on this convo!

I carry (CCD) a Taurus Millennium pro .45 It's lightweight easy to pull and shoot with great accuracy.

I also own a colt commanders edition .45, And a Beretta 92fs

On the rifle side I have AR-15 (my baby!!!) then a couple of Remingtons for hunting.

I have shot the XD they are a decnt weapon but overpriced for what you get IMHO

JMHO, but somebody here is very mistaken...

Oh, you just cocked your pistol? What was that? Did someone just open a door? Could have just been the wind blowing. Everyone knows the sound of a shotgun racking, and if they don't, quite simply, their not in your house.

Furthermore, do you know how to handle this situation? Avoidance and evasion is the first key to your success. Did you know that most people can't remember the fist 30 seconds after waking up? Pistol?! Please. What kind of groupings do you normally shoot? How about under duress(probably extreme duress)? Assuming of course that you ARE a well versed shooter.

It's easy to say that you'll just bust out the AK47(yeah, I have one) and lay these fools to waste... "Yeah, I got a nuclear weapon up in here, how dare you bust in my crib"... Have you considered being scared, tending to your family, or how Adrenalin will effect you? And I'm not even gonna start about simply wounding an intruder...

I'll just stop there. The OP asked about home defense firearms. Home defense firearms=Pump shoty. No semi auto. No substitute. Keep it short so you can pull around the corners. Slug front, slug back, buck middle - finish first, finish last, chase middle.

About all I have to say about that.

A loud dog that knows how to bite would serve you better.

Logic your funny LOL

Though I certainly can not speak for every one, AND am quite sure it is not this way with most, BUT My average grouping is within three inches, under my first ever duress test It was under ten inches, I have since gotten that down to five inches. And even though the few different stress/duress test I have done over the years Still do not fully prepare someone for the adrenaline that comes with having a family member or yourself under an actual attack, It is a good thing to find out about yourself and can help you realize how much something effects your ability to shoot. Sadly unless you own land and get details on how they are done, there is not many places around the states that preform decent duress/stress test...

So true. It just bugs me that someone could go buy a pistol and assume that they can triple tap anyone walking into the house from 10 yards out. Don't get me wrong, I feel pretty manly too every time I pick up a new toy...

Yeah that wont happen even most shooters that have plenty of time shooting are still only effective under a stressful situation at 10-15ft. I have property and one of the main things I do is shoot A LOT and practice with my pictols A LOT but even still should the situation arise there is no substitute for being in a real life/death situation just hope the training you have is or was enough. Also a bright light on yur pistol can blind an intrudor and get you on target faster. I do like Mikes "LOGIK" of using the shotgun with slug, shot, slug it does make sense but if you have kids or others home it could be risky if that slug gets away from your intended target. People always talk about the bullets that hit target not all the ones that missed and those all went some where.

I shot a few bottle rockets on new years eve. Love the gun powder and the effect in the sky was awesome and the rush was out of this world! I did fire the Cummins pellet gun at a squirrel digging in my gutters today, and missed. I could have opted for borrowing my neighbors semi auto, but I just put out rat poison mixed with peantut butter. That works 10 out of 10 times and won't hurt any one, other than the varmints.

The little crossbow pistol at Cummins is also pretty cool...but it has no exploding parts, only arrows/darts. I might get one in the next few days when I get down that way, only $25. Would that be considered a "shooter"? good luck

Well if your looking for home defense, with the wow factor< especially with mikes multiple shotgun loads>
I am looking to part with my Franchi S.P.A.S.12
It's got a trap block, to allow you to use a special round, without cycling throught the magazine...also has cooling fins, in case the fight goes long..
and iron sites, and a fold down stock, in case they are getting away...
and the unique ability to be used as a pump, or a semi auto

for personal carry, I prefer my Ruger SP101 357.. nothings more reliable than a wheelgun.

Using poison will also poison falcons or other preadators wich rely on the squirrels as a food source, and is often illegal in some ares. It also makes the animal suffer....be humane..use a bullet...

I live in the city and have never seen a falcon or anything other than a pidgeon or starling. I will never fire a bullet again...I will kill rats based on the best kill rate, for me, and that seems to be poison and not a pellet or arrow.

I will let everyone know how the crossbow pistol is shooting next week. I might try and hit a few rats with it..but I doubt it. happy reefing
