My digital camera (Minolta DiMage Z1) went weird on me about a month ago. The top dial to select mode still turns freely, but the mode is stuck on "sunset". I can not take regular, close-focus pictures anymore or put the camera in manual. I contacted the manufacturer (actually Sony now that they have purchased Minolta's digital camera line) and they charge a flat fee of $111 for all repair work. Sheesh. I paid only $350 for this thing two years ago and a comparable replace with more Megapixels only costs about $250~$300 now.
So, does anybody know a local repair shop that can look at my camera and fix it relatively cheaply? If not, I'll just save up my money and buy a new one. I don't want to send it out for $111 when it may take weeks to get it back and it only likely has a broken switch that needs to be replaced.
