OT: Anyone had or have Bengal cats?

Got tubes?
Hi all!

I've just been looking around at different breeds of cats and what not and I'm really interested in Bengal cats. There's a good breeder in Kodak and it has piqued my interest. :)

Anyone had them before or have them now? Care to comment on them?

From what I've seen, I think they have great personalities that we would really love. :)

Thanks!

Brandon

Brandon,
I am by no means a cat person, but I do love animals. With that being said you may be interested in the Egyptian Mau. That is one cat that has caught my attention. They are supposed to be the fastest cat ( well house cat). They have been clocked at 35 MPH. Anywho, they are a silver/black version to the Bengal cat in looks. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks bro. I will look into them. Being a fast cat can make them intimidating to play with, tho, as they always win! :D

Brandon I have a calico and they are great In the personality dept. Very easy to get them attached to you and oh so talkative, Lets you know when It wants something or Is hungry go out Etc. Plus they are kind of the Bulldogs of cats IMO very nice pets.

Thanks, Bill!

Definitely something to keep in mind. :) To be honest, we may just end up adopting kittens, but the thing I like is the general consistency in personalities of pure-bred cats, but we'll see.

I think I probably just need to get a dog AND a cat and I've talked to Julie about it. I would prefer two cats, a dog, and a 300g fish tank, but I think she doesn't want 3 furry animals so we'll see what happens.

More than anything, I'm just daydreaming about if one of us get a job! :)

Brandon,

A friend of mine had a Bengal. He was very cute, but a bit too independent at times. You might look into a Mannx also. Very specific and a cool cat.

I have 2 dogs and a cat..man, I hope you are ready for all the food, walking, litter, heartworm, flea and tick, ect..ect...it is like having 3 kids. My cat is almost 17 years old and as feisty as ever! He runs the dogs lol.

My wife and I were never cat people until a few weeks ago during the cold spell we had. I cam home from work and found a Tortoise shell cat sitting on out porch. We could not leave her out so we brought her in. We posted some lost cat found messages but nobody claimed her. After a few weeks of good behavior, it looks like Tuga has a home and we are now cat people.

I do not know about the breed in general, but she has been great. Good with the kids and loves to just sit in our laps. She even learned quickly that laying on our heads at night is a no no.

Wow! That's awesome about your cat.

Yeah, we haven't bought any pets other than my fish due to not having the funds to take care of them properly at the moment. Hopefully, maybe that will soon change! :)

 That's awesome, Michael. I grew up with a tortoise shell that is now with my step-dad. She's more like a female-dog-in-heat, though. ;) BUT, she was the most tame of a wild litter a friend of ours had. :)

LOL +1 on the pets are like kids andywe! I have 4 Corgis and people wonder I do not want kids. I have 4. Some people just don't get that though. Good luck with whatever breed you decide on Brandon. Best piece of advice, play with every breed you are interested in if possible and go from there.

The calico Is pure a pure breed version, Thats what makes It so cool. The face Is unmistakable kinda chubby! Like a bulldog!

Michael, you named it, it's yours! hahahaha

Brandon, you might look into Goeffry's Cats as well, I know someone who has a Bengal, and he's said it is an awesome cat, but a bit demanding at times. Goeffry's are still big, but laid back.

As for the cat name, given the type of cat and my son's love of Diego/Dora, it was a natural choice.

We're obviously cat people (lost Miranda back in mid March... We still miss her:(). I've always wanted a Bengal. They're like super cats:). A friend down here has one that is one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen. It can be independent, but is typically a lush. It drapes when you pick it up. One of these days I may be able to get one. They are smarter than other cats, and sometimes may tease them. They love to show that they can do things that 'non super' cats can't do (like jump to the top of a door, etc).

With Mark posting his link, I was beginning to think I was the only cat lover around here. :D

My wife and I are considering a pair of "pet quality" (IE, less expensive but maybe not super pretty) Bengals instead of just one. I don't think its good for cats to be alone, especially smart ones! :D

Thanks for sharing, Gary.

And thanks for the link, Michael. I'm browsing now. :)
