OT: Anyone in the club brew their own beer?

Ive been home brewing for the past 13 years. If your looking into doing more lagers then i recommend the unit i bought from Maltose Express. It regulates a chest freezer to be at whatever temp you want. If you ever want to talk brewing send me a pm. And while we are on the topic I need to turn 2 kegs into brewing kettles, however I no longer have the tools to do it.

Those of you who do brew your own beer do you bottle it or keg it? I usually bottle I've put it into a keg once so far its a lot easier but i personally like doing bottles better.

I don't have kegging equipment, so I'm bottling at this point. I like the idea of it being portable as well... so I doubt I'll ever spend the coin on the kegging stuff

We already have everything for a regular keg, so it only cost me 20$ for one of the small kegs to put the beer into so it didn't end up costing me too much extra. Was just wondering if anyone else does it.

I have a mini fridge in the fish room and was contemplating turning it into a kegorator, but after a few measurements, I'm off by about 2 inches. The compressor is in the back/bottom, so it cuts into the storage space. Grrrrr!

On a side note, just went to get some swing top bottles from the local brew shop and saw a Brewers best Pumpkin spice ale.... I was a bit intrigued, but figured I'd hold off until I heard if anyone else has ever tried it?

I usually keg most of my beers, the exception being my higher alcohol beers like my imperial stouts, scotch ales, and barley wines. It also helps that I have a kegerator. As for the pumpkin ale, im not familiar with that particular recipe, however, if you take a standard brown ale and just add a teaspoon of pumpkin spice both during flavor and aroma steps it comes out very nice.

swanny which local shop do you go to?

I used to go to wine/beer art in Torrington. Is there another in the area?

I was at Wine & Beer Art in Torrington, but that was my first time there. I've always gone to Maltose Express down in Monroe.

Maltose Espress has everything home brewing related you can think of. They have a bunch of kits as well as pretty much any grains, hops, and yeasts you can buy if you want to craft your own or follow a recipe. A great store worth checking out if you're up for the drive.
