OT: Are any of you HVAC guys?

We close on our new house 10/31.

The good news is that the basement is unfinished, so I can eventually build a fish room down there. I'm envisioning a Nook sized, if not bigger, fish only tank down there.

Anyway, back to the real question. The house got a new furnace in 2012 or so, but the AC units are probably 20 years old. The inspector said that we're probably going to need to replace them sometime soon. He couldn't really test them because it was pretty chilly the day he was at the house.

If any of you are HVAC guys, do you do work like that on the side? I actually just had a new furnace and AC put into my current house this spring, so I've got a guy that I can use. But he ****ed me off not long after I dropped $5K into his pocket, so I'm not really interested in using him for this next time.

Also, one of the walls in the house has a cold air return in it. I'd like to remove a good portion of that wall to open up the floorplan a bit. What would I do with that cold air return?

Thanks for the non-reefing help.
