Anyone else think these guys are crazy!!!

God, I watched a car almost hit one of these guys today.

I was also hit by a car riding my bike a few years ago...

Another friend of mine was hit coming from laguna...

It just seems very dangerous ..

Not crazy but dangerous b/c of the high speeds that cars travel ...way over the speed limit. The problem with Socal is that we have great year round weather, lots of active cyclists, but not too many areas to ride. Long open countryside roads would be nice, but instead we get hollywood blvd, lol.

My point was with all these idiots, why take a chance? A dumb girl almost broke my leg when she hit me with her car. Thrashed my bike and I jumped off and landed on the hood of her car. The worst part of the story is that I called the cops and he gave me a ticket also for not having my drivers license with me, and it ended up costing $50!

Frank I must agree with you. It just takes one accident to be injured or worst, dead. I ride on Santa Ana River trail most of the time to avoid such accidents.

PS any frags for sale ? You are due to put some up for sale :)
I finally got my SPS tank up and running now for about 3 months and looking to stock it...

There are two schools of thought on this, one is yours -- that the bicyclists shouldn't go near crazy drivers.

On the other hand, the law states that bicylists have exactly the same rights on the road and follow the same laws. Why should they be punished because of bad drivers? At the extreme end of this view are the Critical Mass folks who deliberately gum up traffic a rush hour by peacefully (and legally) riding bikes en masse to make a point. Of course, they get harassed and arrested by the cops, but the huge majority of cars causing the rush hour mess in the first place don't. :rolleye1:

Me, I wish the bicylists on these roads luck and drive bike-aware around them -- but you won't catch me doing it. The only roads I ride on are in bike-friendly cities like Irvine, where there are big, safe bike lanes almost everywhere you want to go.

Damn Roadies!! I'll take my chances on controlled objects like rocks, gravel slides, and tree stumps rather than idiots behind the wheel of a minivan. I'd also rather buy pads and mtn gear rather than lycra unitards and flashy multi-colored tight shirts. lol

2000 lbs going at 40 mph can really hurt someone... I was hit going less than 2 mph and it mangled my wheel and my knee...

I have tons of frags available. I will be fragging a few new ones this time... My purple with bright purple tip stag... ( I think it is a yongei or formosa )

I'll get a list together and post it in the reef a palooza thread. A lot of my corals have started tabling also.

I also have this killer fire pink cluster millepora that I may frag if someone wants it... It is getting tough to get in there with the pliers anymore :)

You can get a huge ticket for riding your bike on sidewalk I heard.

what's worse bike hit pedestrian

or car hit bike.

When I go bike riding me and my buddy ride our bikes in the car lanes forcing drivers to slow down or switch lanes. Bike lanes are just too small and many drivers wont be able to see you or react because you are so out of the way they think they can keep speeding passed you.

#1 thing is dont wear extra headgear/no walkman/hoodies. Stay alert wear a helmet and ride smart.

Stay off the road and hit the dirt. Take chances, ride fast. If you go on a hard ride and are not bleeding at least a little bit, you didnt try hard enough.
