OT Brett Farve

Well, I guess if a reporter said it , it must be true! javascript:smilie(':rolleye1:')

How about what Brett has to say on the matter:

"They want to know if I'm committed but I want to know if they're 100 percent committed. The problem is that there's been a lot of damage done and I can't forget it. Stuff has been said, stories planted, that just aren't true. Can I get over all that? I doubt it." .....

Asked what stories have been "planted," Favre alluded to the reports that said he waffled on un-retiring in late March or early April. He said that's "just not the way it went down, at all."

He also expressed anger with the stories that alleged he had a team-issued cell phone that showed the Vikings were tampering with him.

"Again, that was bull on both parts," he said.

"Then," Favre said, "they tried to buy me off to stay retired."

Like I said, in the end, I don't care. I'm not a GB fan. You enjoy your last year with Favre as a Favrenite. I'll enjoy the next 5 years he forced the Pack to go backwards.

Just curious, has rogers said he won't come back if he doesn't play this year?

I haven't followed the who said what as I don't care that much, but if he hasn't openly said he is going to leave if he doesn't start why assume he would?

Obviously Favre is going to retire in the next couple years. This year? Next year? Its going to be soon. So with that team being so loaded you don't think he might just stick around? Instead of going to some team that is either rebuilding or just flat out bad? He has invested so much time into that team, why just toss it out the window?

I dunno.

Also, whats worth more? Winning the Superbowl this year, or taking a chance you will be a good team the next 5 years? Obviously neither are guaranteed.

Rogers hasn't said anything like that, actually he has handled this pretty well.

People are just assuming wouldn't want to come back.

The Packers control Rogers for the next three years anyway. He has two years left on his contract and could be hit with the franchise tag after that effectively keeping him around at least three more years.

LMAO... nice. I agree.

You know, I basically had a feeling that he wasn't going to really retire once I found out that he was going to be on the Madden 09 cover. The only thing Favre is going to accomplish this year is show that the Madden curse is alive and well. ;)

Make Favre sign a contract that says he'll play the next 2 years no matter how bad he is and start prepping Brian Brohm. Trade Aaron Rodgers and be done with it. :D

Getting either one of those two some playing time and/or study time, and they could very well be quality QBs for almost any team.

Either one wouldn't set a team back five years, though.

^^^ BUMP ^^^

And keeping (somewhat) on the subject of Brett Favre, I decided to preorder a copy of Madden 09 earlier this afternoon at the local GameStop... just to say that the picture on the cover of the game was how he looked before the season starts.

Well, it looks like the decision has been made that Brett will not play for GB this year. The next drama to unfold will be where will he play... for the Bucs, Jets, Vikes or somewhere else.

I hope McCarthy and Rogers have a decent season. Or there is going to be a lot of booing at Lambeau this year.

The Favre retirement press conference is my second favorite press conference ever. Second only to Mike Schmidt.

Rumors this morning are saying that a deal could be done today to send Favre to Tampa Bay.

Who knows, by tomorrow, it could be anywhere

In the inerest of sanity:

So.....how 'bout that Bears O'Line huh? That will be awesome to watch this year (insert sarcasm here). Anyone hear that the initial starting lineups for the first preseason game reportedly had both Grossman and Orton listed as CO-starters. Hilarious!

How about those Vikes? They are going to be sick talented on DEF.

How about those Lions.......wait I'm sorry, there's really nothing good to say about the Lions, outside of Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams.

I wish I had HBO. Their pre-season show about the Cowboys this year looks interesting, going through the ins and outs of Dallas' training camp. Anyone seen it?

Any given Sunday brother, on any given Sunday. Go Pack, go. And take the Brewers with you. Oh, wait, they play the Cubs. They can stay.

Not to mention, the Brewers are busy attacking each other in their own dugout.

Did anyone else see that clownshoe Princess Fielder start shoving their starting pitcher the other day? It almost reminded me of the Zambrano/Barrett scuffle that happened last season in the Cubs' dugout. Hilarious.

^^^ BUMP ^^^

For those keeping score, ESPN just reported that Favre has been traded to the NY Jets.

Personally, I just hope that the non-stop Favre discussion will end sometime soon - once he's officially on some other roster.

One of the greatest comments on this came from Ogunleye on Fox "I hope the bears dont sign him cuz I havent gotten to sack him yet........Well if they do I guess I'll just have to drill him good one day in practice."

He's officially a Jet, and the Packers are going to get a decent draft pick for him the way they set it up.....

Now the question is when he finally does retire and gets into the hall of fame (1st ballot without a doubt) will he do it in a Packers uniform or did they make him so mad that he will retire in a Jets uniform just to stick it to them.....

maybe he'll just smother cheese wiz all over himself and draw a jets logo in his chest with his finger....

that's what gobbles and teabag really want ;)

FYI teabag your avatar is done....check the ot logo thread...
