I am not too bad a fisherman and anyone that is willing to help with expenses and wants to hit the water on a monday or tuesday for some reef/offshore fishing is welcome to ride out with me. I have a 21' contender open fisherman rigged and ready. I'd love to hit the bridge with you guys on the 4th but i work that night.... make sure you take PLENTY of OFF!!!!!

That is very kind of you to invite us, I will definitely like to take you up on your offer, please let me know how to contact you, I love to do night fishing in the intracostal or offshore, either way let me know I will be glad to chip in for the gas and bait.

YUP! I want you as my Diving buddy!!!! NOOOOOOO :wildone: :lmao: :fish1:

i don't mind driving, i'll take my car it is a civic so not many people can fit. I have rod and reel and some tackle, but i usually just stop and pick up what i need on the way down.

Ok, I am going to drive since no lives near me, so I could pick up Rogger on the way.
Cubano my wife can't go, but either way your girl is more than welcomed to go anyway.
I will probably buy my tackle before hand. But I figure we should meet at the Bait and Tackle shop Cubano talked about. I could bring to coolers filled with ice too.
I will definately have snorkel gear on hand.
As far as food goes, I just want to know if we are fending for ourselves or we are sharing? Either way I am up for it. Hell Rogger is going :) ...I have a small gas BBQ grill I could take! (hint-hint)

I might be going as well if I have time. I'll bring some chum along to spice things up. If anyone has a bridge hoop net or gaf, bring it.

If I go I will be down either early around 6am, or in the afternoon around 5pm and fishing around 4 hours. Don't waste your time fishing in the middle of the day. The snorkling around the rocks is ok at times if the water is clear but dont venture around the pilings when the tide is ripping. Too bad we'll be going a cople days before lobster season, theres bugs in them rocks hint hint.

ahoyhoy239 - nice catch but were not going to see anything like that in the bridges, specially with this heat.

ghstrider - nice of you to invite us on your rig, and a sweet rig it is. Too bad I can't make it, duty calls. Maybe we can do a forum trip, I'll bring my 29' Luhrs.

Yeah....but if we go early enough on Sat, and we are not looking for a place to stay the night, we should be ok.
Most traffic would be coming into the Keys I would think too.

Where? What did you use for bait?

this was done spearfishing so no bait, we were off key largo between pickles and davis reef throughout the day, in 30-50.

i know for a fact though diving around several of the bridges mentioned earlier that they should be loaded with mangrove, cubera, and mutton snapper that are spawning inshore right now. 2 years ago there were cubera snapper over 25" that came 2 feet from my mask when i would sit still on the bottom. this was diving off the channel 5 bridge for lobster so no spearing allowed, but certainly rod fishing.

i recommend the lightest fluorocarbon leader that you can get away with and try to hide your hooks with the knot inside your bait as much as possible. also bring a rope and drop a chumbag up current of were your fishing. usually the smaller fish are closer to the bag, the bigger ones hang deeper and farther back.

imo the yellow bait house in key largo is better than jacks. they carry fresher frozen bait and have way more tackle than jacks.
btw i recommend machuelo or thread herring for the snapper. if oyu can get them, pinfish live or in chunks work great too

Rogger I think that I still have u cell# I will star u call from 2am U will go :D

yeah thats all freediving. i was going to learn to scuba with my dad and brother few years back but we never got around to it and i just got better at freediving so i kinda have a thing against scuba now lol. i like to mess with the divers out there when i see them by sitting on the bottom for a minute while they stare wondering if im alive lol

everyone tells me how cool it feels to with a tank to stay down so long but with freediving with experience you get to a level of relaxation on a good dive thats really incredible, kinda like you zone out and everythings totally slows down around you. ive only been diving for 7-8 years so i cant imagine how relaxed the other guys with 20+ years of experinece can get

Sorry for drifting off topic, you may continue with the thread lol

both free diving and scuba have there place. I love spearfishing while free diving, but for lobster scuba is the only way to fly. I just got some new fins, the cressi grassa 3000. Man those things are outa hand.

actually ive never gone lobstering on mini season and not pulled my limit. really we catch all our lobster in 10-15 of water. i have caught lobster in 50 feet but that is a real PITA, but i only do that if i happen to seen one while spearfishing and i can grab them. it just depends on if you know where to find em is all.

I like free diving but I can`t hold my self down there for to long that`s why I want to do some scuba I already got my BC good fins and many other things du u collect thing for u tank from the keys wen u do free diving???

Hey Bud....it is Aug 4 (Sat)

no i havent brought anything back for my tank yet, i was lobstering today and saw some perfect sized angelsand other small fish but i need to dedicate a day to catch a couple and bring them home quickly. i may only bring one or two fish the first time i do it in case they dont do well in captivity, then i will just stick to buying them
