Yes, when is our raft party now that I have a raft????   SOON I HOPE :) so far I know how to get from Hooters to Anclote to Howard Park and back, lol! That's about it. I keep hearing about other places and I plan to find them ALL this summer!

Where do you think I should go next? Shoot me some GPS numbers to find places...and if you insist, you can even tell me your best fishing hole
:strooper:

I really want to go to Caledesi...never been there.

Three Rooker bar is first island South of Anclote/ North of Honeymoon. Good beach, cool little island. Caladesi is cool on Hurricane pass side. It gets really shallow and is fun to walk/swim around.

Here are some pics I took of Caladesi on Friday from my boat:

...Blitz, thanks for those names. Those are some of the places I have heard of occassionally but know nothing about - yet. What caused that fire?

Here are some random pics. Can't believe I don't have a whole inside shot, but will put a video up in a sec once it's uploaded to photobucket.

This is the day we picked it up.

awesome! Are you guys using salt-away (or an alike) product when flushing your engine? I really love the stuff.

The fire on Caladesi, I think it might have been a control burn. Not sure. It was going Thursday and Friday. Those pics were taken from the gulf side.

Time to pack for tomorrow! We're heading that way again for the my son's b-day!

QUESTION ABOUT RADIO:

We are getting a hand-held. Can anyone tell me about them in general? We are planning on staying withing 6-8 miles. Will it be sufficient for the summer?

A handheld should work just fine for that...

One that uses regular AA batteries is what I would suggest.. bring extra batteries!

Some of them you can also buy either a cig-lighter plug or a power cord that you can wire into a 12v source. Also good to have.

The paddles thing is...well... kinda dumb on that size of a craft. Yes, you should have them but there is NO WAY you're going to be able to paddle that boat. I have them on my boats and have tried to use them... didn't get anywhere! hah

sorry, but a 13" draft boat paddles easily -

also a whistle by the wheel is much quicker and easier to use than digging for an air horn, looks like lots of fun!

good idea to add whistles to child's lifejackets, I have one on my BC

Thanks. We have a few whistles on board. In-laws are pushing for paddles. We'll get the radio and paddles before our next trip out.

Seriously, thanks for all the info.

WOW, am I so glad we bought the boat!

Update:

We've gone out 6 times now. Anclote Park was OK - the incoming tide was hard one time and some of the people are very rude. One decent ding while dropping people off on a different day. Anclote Island and the neighboring sandbar are definately hot spots on the weekend.

This week we dropped in at Hooters in NPR on Monday and Thursday - empty ramp!. Each day we used less than 2 gallons and we did a LOT (less than $10 to have a lot of fun for a family of 5)! We fish the stilt houses and flats, snorkel in the grasses, go to Durney Key and the sandbar by it, and tubed (or attempted). We have seen Manatees, a cute bonnethead shark hanging out with us, many giant rays, sea turtles, dolphins hearding/capturing mullet, huge kingfish and small cobia trailing the rays (really!), flying fish, and some other very large unidentified objects. Pinfish are NOT our friends (they are shrimp thieves!).

We'll be trying some places south in the coming weeks. You'll have to give us names/locations of restaurants on the water :)

:eek2: sorry, wasn't trying for that!

I've just always wanted a boat and I feel like a kid in a candy store out there. I've lived on the Gulf coast for 10 years and never got to experience any of it until now.
