Since I'm visiting Beef Central, I would like to know what is your favorite place for steaks, how do you like it cooked and what kind do you normally get?

Beef Central's been one of my favorite sites for a long time now! ;)

If i'm ordering steak it's a ribeye cooked medium. But I usually get the prime rib if they have it! That's my favorite. The best prime rib i've ever had was at a little resteraunt called Captain Bly's in Rockford, IA. AWESOME AND CHEAP!

My favorite is from Sam and Gabes in DSM. I like to get the beef tenderloin medallions(med. rare) with gorganzola.

BTW, the domain name beefcentral.com is still available.

One of my favorites from a long time ago is The Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City. It has been about 10 years ago since I have been there but the food was really good when I was there. I believe it is owned by Greeks....and I love that food.

If ever in Minneapolis I would recommend Manny's. That was a fun experience. Plus it is family style if you go with a group. Then you can never go wrong with Ruths Chris. You always know what you are going to get there.

It all depends on what is best at the time on what I get. As far as how I like it cooked....take the bell off and serve it to me :)

Bob, that's one of the funniest things I've heard in awhile! :lmao:

Keep it coming, there seems to be a lot of good places for steaks across the state.

We have pretty much given up on going out for steak, everytime we do we are disappointed witht he quality and price. It's hard to beat grilling your own. I think the best steak i have ever had was grilled prime rib that my mom brought over, she had it thick cut, i let it marinate in soy sauce for about an hour and threw it on the Weber charcoal grill till it was medium rare......man just thinking about it makes my mouth water!!!!

Taste the meat not the heat!!! Charcoal for life!!!

And don't forget the shrooms saute'd in garlic butter....

It's hard to argue with the results of charcoal or anything smoked. I find it hilarious when people say they cannot taste the difference between a gas grill and charcoal.

Texas Roadhouse in Urbandale, very good steaks. The wait can be a pain of you show up at dinner time though.

Best steak I ever had was at a steakhouse in Le Mars that I've forgotten the name of. When I go out to eat, though, I generally get something (anything) that I can't cook better myself or isn't the Aussie Acan of food. I've got better things to spend $20 on (like 3x as much meat for my own grill!)

Where's that place at in Mason City Bob? Never even heard of it, but sounds like I'll have to sop there the next time I'm in town! :D

It is on the very North end of Mason City. I think the street that runs North out of town is called Federal Ave. Take that almost all the way out of town and then go left a few blocks. You will be way better off asking someone when you get close. It is in a rough part of town and it is a very small place but worth it. Be prepared to wait...but the bread and the pasta is worth it!

I will have to add my vote for Rubes in Montour. I like to grill my own while having a few beers though.

Ribeye medium well!

I'm not sure if this is in the same chain as the place bullet's talking about, but there's a place in Ames called Cafe Northwest. It's also greek, and they have AMAZING steak. I'm pretty sure they're owned by the same people. It's located really close to the corner of Duff and Lincoln Way, right behind the Tip Top.

I like mine off the Big Green Egg. If you like BBQ, grilling, baking, pretty much anything you need to check it out. Favorite thing I own!!!

They have also been known to serve up a mean plate of food poisoning.

A friend and I, at two different times.

1 vote no on Cafe Northwest

Oh, if it's any consolation (we are on beef central, after all) it was chicken both times :)

That's what you get for eating chicken at a steak house!

That comes from people who dont know how to run a grill properly.

My personal favorite is from "The Strip House" in Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Good food and scantily clad servers. Good combination. David Spade was there eating when I was there a couple weeks ago, so you get the celebrity sighting thing with your meal on occasion. I like a new york strip medium rare to rare.
