OT: Can Pujols keep this up??

Pujols hit his 10th homerun tonight.

His homerun last night was his 4th in 4 consecutive plate appearances, tying the record.

And if he thinks being on pace for 231 RBI's is going to cut it, he better think again.

I truly hope he gets the single season home run record.No one in the mlb deserves it more then him.

I just don't see him being a 70 HR guy though. He truly doesn't swing for the fences, he's more of a line drive hitter. But when he hits it at the right part it can definitly fly. Pure hitters are more line drive hitters. You can tell by the swing of a guy whether or not he's a all or nothing hitter or a line drive pure hitter.

I believe Pujols is the latter, I don't see him ever surpassing 55 in a season. I think he'll be a constant .320/45 HR/120 RBI guy. But maybe he'll prove me wrong.

What do you all think about his comments on the fans shouldnt boo the players on the team?

I agree... That is what seperates st. louis fans from all the other teams. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Completely disagree with him on this one. The fans pay his salary, and expect a certain level of performance from the players on the team, and I see nothing wrong with expressing your displeasure at the perceived lack thereof.

You can bet your arse that players know that the average fan is probably somewhat uninformed as to what constitutes hard play, so they take fan grumbling with a grain of salt.

The players that are truly bothered by it are most likely the ones not giving 100% effort.

All of that being said, Albert Pujols will probably end up being one of the greatest ever to play the game. Getting booed, or hearing his teammates getting booed bothers him because he cares about playing the game. Sticking up for his teammates is something he should do, given the circumstances. Even Albert must realize that fans will support the team, but they also have come to expect a winning effor, or at least a close, well played game.

Seeing the problems with the pitching staff lately, I can't say as I blame some of them for booing...

Yeah, I wasn't too happy with the bat toss being 20 feet in the air and losing 8-1.......but don't do it again. He gets a free pass on this one.

Commenting on the fans, that's fine. Players that are struggling could use a little positive feedback instead of negative booing. Help the struggling player through these times. And wasn's Juan on a 6 game hit streak? He's coming around I think. He'll do just what was expected of him by the end of the season.

I agree with you. Pujols seems to care about the team and winning more than he cares about personal glory. This is why he usually just looks for a hit, any hit, or has the patience to draw a walk, rather than swinging for the fences every at-bat. I think he could break the HR record if he set his mind to it and was willing to strike or pop out in pursuit of it; however, for now, his priority seems to be what's best for the team rather than what's best for himself.

Another thing to make it difficult to attain the milestone will be the fact that he won't be getting much to see if Edmonds keeps batting behind him. He'll see about as many strikes as Barry Bonds sees a week.
