OT: Carmax, anyone use them?

I'm thinking about trading in my SUV and I've seen some nice looking cars on Carmax. Anyone have any experience dealing with them?

U might get a better deal going to a dealership nowadays with the way the economy has been. Nobody is selling cars like they did 1 year ago.

yeah, is there "really" no bargaining. Let's say I come in, say I want the car and will take it away today, will they deal?

As far as I know there isn't any. Now that times are rough it might be worth a shot.

I can't stand not being able to haggle, just a bit. It doesn't feel right, it's un-American when shopping for cars!

They did give me what I considered a high approval for my 8 year old SUV so I'm happy about that.

oh yeah Pat when you get a chance check your pm's i sent info for you on an o7 tahoe ltz loaded with navigation, tv, power liftgate, the works! its basically the same car as the denali your looking at.

Glad you went a different route. MY family has had very bad experiences with Carmax. If something goes wrong with the car, they are PITA's about living up to their warranty. Worst I've ever heard of.

And ya, zero room for haggling.

Bravo on trading in the SUV I had one experience with Carmax and did not like it. They had a set course you had to drive for the test drive (which didn't let you on the highway or any main road) and the salesman has to ride with you. He was freaking out and yelling at me when I hit 36 in a 35...c'mon buddy, I have to see what the car is capable of before I buy it. Needless to say, I've looked elsewhere for my cars ever since.

I've never bought a car there, but I've sold them 2. They offered a lot more for my cars than the dealer would for a trade-in, so i sold them to Carmax and bought the new cars. I thought the experience from that standpoint was great. They gave me over 20% more than the dealers were offering.
