I am basically looking for a car, not an old beater, but a decent used car that wont fall apart too much on me. A four door would save me insurance money and makes trasporation of friends and family easier, but if it is a good deal, i may lean towords a two door. I am looking for a car around $2000, but may go higher if they are willing to work with me on something. .

Yea i dont think they are a cool car at all, have you seen the difference in the old one vs the new one, major make over. Also i thought he was looking for a cool car.

just to let people know i'm a certified gm and nissan technican and the altimas are great cars for the money. i can list 4 things that can go wrong and none of them cost over 200 to fix. the malibu i can list 20 things that cost 500 and above. the nissan is a better buy. but seth it dosn't matter when you have me to work on them for you and i can get parts at cost. and both would be more reliable than a magic bluecapret.

alot of things can go wrong with a car that's not was i was saying what i was saying is don't bash anything unless you know whats what. 9 times out of 10 if the 2.4 liter altima wont start it's due to the distrubtor leaking internally and getting oil and the cam shaft not allowing the ecm to detect cranking rpm. on the maibu with the 3.1 your lower intake is leaking and once fixed it will start again in the near future. this is a topic i would not get into with me. this is my way of life and i'm very good at what i do. seth needs a car that won't cost him a huge amount and that will be dependable. and cool is not what he needs. and seth like i said let me know what you get and i will be able to help you fix it.

i agree with skinnyjoe altima its a good car.i work at a junkyard and the main thing we sell of them are the distribuitor and seth altimas do look pretty cool.it kind of reminds me of a miny version of the j30.im also here available if you need parts or help.

I'm on board for a honda or nissan. I sure wish I would have bought one of those for my first car...unfortunately it was a 84 reliant. lol

This thread is making me twitch :(

Sorry Seth- why dont we try to put this thing back on track everybody? Have you checked out the newspapers and those ads in the front of the grocery stores for cars?

Yeah, i do everyday...

InLimbo, thanks for the great links, i rea am interested in the altima and 626 and will be calling them tomorow.

From what i have heard outside this thread, from my uncle, who is also a service ech., is that nissans are great dependable cars that will last a long time, along with toyota and hondas.

I really appreciate all of the help and i love all of your opinions, they all count and wiegh things out for me as to customer opinions. I will check out the altima and 6 tomorrow and let you kow what the specs are with them

i kinda like the middle one the civic sedan but thats just me.

i would definately speak against the 3000gt thats a speeding ticket waiting to happen as well.

i miss my nissan truck i had a 94 and that thing was awesome. my dad bought it with only 30k miles and babied it all the way. mobile one synthetic every 3k. never had any problem.sold it too me and i drove i for two years. i only sold it because we didnt need two vehicles and paid credit cards off.. love beiing debt fee LOL :)

its sad that the most dependable cars dont come from america

I take it you have never driven through Mississippi on Hwy 55? There is a HUGE Nissan plant near Jackson. It takes forever to drive by it on the highway at 70mph lol. The parts might be imported, but i'm thinking that plant is doing some serious assembly. All of the GM parts are made in Mexico any more. I would much rather have parts that were made in japan then to have them made in Mexico personaly, and i'm a chevy guy to the bone. I believe Honda is assembled here also. They started that years ago to save on the import fees.

Could you imagine how much they'd cost if they were shipped here whole? The parts are manufactured elsewhere, the car is designed and engineered elsewhere, and merely put together here.

Hey Seth. My friend has a 91 Honda Accord with I think 120,000 miles on and it runs like brand new. The paint is in awesome shape and the interior is perfect shape. The car has been garage kept and my friend is second owner. I think he will let it go for around $4,300 bucks maybe $4,000. Oh brand new window tint, ice cold A/C.

Thats really expensive for a 91 Accord IMO, not to mention double the price range he's looking at.

Just my $.02

Oh for some reason I was thinking he had $4,000 to spend. It does seem high for a 91, but when its in better shape then most 2003 you would understand.

my bad i thought nissan toyota and honda was a japanese car.

They are japanese. I guess it's based on where they're headquartered nowadays. Assembling the cars here saves a ton on shipping as mentioned, I think duties and tariffs too, and probably mostly of all, add's to their reputation. Now they can show home-grown USA men assembling Tundra's in their commerials... :rolleye1:
