OK......but there's a catch! I have a real crappy driving record!
So here's kinda the deal. When I first came back from Iraq, I was a.....well let's just say "aggressive driver"
in the two years that followed I got about as many tickets one could get and still have a drivers liscence except for a short time in which i missed one and had a suspension for a week or two until I paid it and got in reinstated. Unfortunately, I only found out that it was suspended when the nice police man pulled me over because when he ran my tag, I came up as having a suspended liscence....so I got another ticket :-(
anyway, my insurance hasn't raised until just last month, but when it did, it was a bit over 300% that it was previously. But the insurance company (USAA) told me that a driving on a suspended liscence ticket was treated exactly the same as a DUI when they calculate the bill, so there wasn't much that they could do. Even after dropping off everything legal to drop, and raising my deductible up to $1000, I'm still looking at about $2600 a year. I have a new truck, so I have to get full coverage.
But I think that's a bit ridiculous considering I haven't been in an accident in the last 14 or 15 years......well aside from running stuff over when I was over seas......but we meant to do that. I did get a kick back for being accident free. In Fact, they were quick to show me just how much money I was saving while selling me a crappier insurance policy for twice as much as I paid the month before on a great one.
Those guys are lucky they don't have an office close to my work!
