OT: Check out my wife's new song :)

Got tubes?
Hey guys!

Cool story here. My wife is taking a Commercial Songwriting class. She and two other people co-wrote this song and presented it in class to Rick Carnes (President of the Songwriter's Guild... he wrote "Long Neck Bottle" back in the day amongst many other songs ;) ). He flipped out and totally loved the song. He gave them some names at EMI and so they pitched it the other day. Hopefully someone will cut it! :D

You can check it out here. Its "Don't Lose Heart". It should be the first song to play.

Just thought I'd share with you guys! We're pumped! :D

WOW, That is your wife dude!!? I bet you are so proud of her! What a powerful song. I actually just lost a very close freind Saturday night and that song really touched me. Such an appropriate song for the greiving family. Is there anyway to burn it to give to them?

I agree with the professor, that it is an awsome song and IMO if that was your wife singing she herself is an awsome singer!

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

That is her singing, and I am very proud of her! :) We're hopeful for the song! Maybe at least one day it will get cut. ;)

Wow, Angela... very sorry to hear that. You can't get the song off of myspace, but I'll see what I can do.

Wow Brandon.....she sounds great!!!

I've got a song-writing friend that has done pretty well (thanks to Garth Brooks). Once she gets that first song out there, the doors seem to open quickly.....or so I hear. Stick with it!!!

Thats what we're hoping, Mark... if this song gets cut, it could quickly lead to at least some kind of writing deal and maybe eventually a staff writer position! ;)

Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed it!

Man, Brian, I sure hope there will be a tank upgrade if it gets cut. What a great way to celebrate! Not sure if she'll want to celebrate with a tank upgrade, though. :D

"Makes your insurance rates go up"... wow... what a great song, there, Brian. Is that you singing? That guy adlibbed to your vocals quite well!

:D

Thanks guys!

Her group was selected for Hot On The Row... they'll be playing at Dan McGuinness on Monday on Music Row! :D They were one of ten out of 45 or so I think. Pretty cool!

Ok, so... the latest.

Long story as short as possible:

Julie met with her mentor at the studio he works at in Franklin. He enjoyed the song, but an A list Christian producer who was there at the moment actually asked for a copy of it! Pretty big deal as they say no if you ask usually, but he was interested in the song!

No guarantees, but thats still at least a major, major compliment! A co-writer who was with her is good friends with the guy and said it was a pretty big deal because he's extremely busy and won't look at something unless it means something to him. :D

Good stuff!

Hopefully this time next year I'll be telling you all the song got cut and we're buying dinner with the first check!

I let Cory listen to it and her other stuff and he was blown away. He LOVED her and the songs. Good luck getting it off the ground!!
