Just wondering if any of you have ever lived in the Crystal river or Homosassa area. I am considering moving over there, and wanted to know if anyone knows about that area. I have only been in Florida a little over 3 years, but long enough to figure out that some areas of Florida require extraction of your front toofs to live there lol. My wife is a nurse and i am disabled, so i'm not real worried about employment, but i have 2 young kids and don't want to move them into a bad area.

I lived in Crystal River for 8 years. Not much of a night life but a nice area to live. Great diving. Cleaner area then Homosassa unless your looking in Sugarmill Woods.

Lightning Kills Diver Off Florida Coast
By Associated Press
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - Lightning struck a diver's oxygen tank as he surfaced off Florida's Atlantic coast, killing him, authorities said.

The 36-year-old man was diving with three others Sunday off a boat near Deerfield Beach, about 40 miles north of Miami. He had surfaced about 30 feet from the boat when lightning struck his tank, said Deerfield Beach Fire Chief Gary Fernaays.

The other divers struggled to get the man back into the boat and radioed for help, Fernaays said. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was rushed to the beach, where a rescue crew gave him CPR. He was later pronounced dead at North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach.

A severe thunderstorm warning had been in effect Sunday for Broward County.

The Broward County Medical Examiner's Office planned an autopsy to determine if the man died by electrocution or drowned.

Thanks sunkool, i have been there to go to the beach a few times, but never spent much time there otherwise. I'm not much on the nightlife anyway lol. I'm too busy changing diapers to go out lol. I am just looking for a good place to raise kids that doesn't cost a fortune to survive in. Housing prices have gone crazy here in Mount Dora, and the area is growing way too fast for me. I think it's time to take my proffits and run. I have made enough off of this house in 3 years to pay cash for a home in that area and have no mortgage. I just want to make sure we won't have to share toofs with the nieghbors when we get there lol.

The schools are said to be better there .
Sorry reefrubble, but the Hernando Co. Schools are much better than Citrus. Something else for dugg to think about. Not that we need more people to move here. (just kidding)
