We are thinking about getting one of these because there is nowhere in our house that we can put a dog door that would go into the backyard ...and these have an optional sensor you can get for the dogs collar to open the door....

Anyone have one..or know anyone with one..trying to see if they are a good product or not?

We thought about replacing the sliding doors w/ double doors that were half glass/half wood and putting a dog door in...but I think it would look kind of odd where the door is at...and the door opening wasn't the right size for anything home depot or lowes has.

I like the second option better.

Picture this situation.......

If I were a prowler, wanting into your home and you had a doormate I could approach the doors and coax said pet (Dog, Cat, Skunk, Ferret) to the door with treats. (Dogs will usually go to the door anyway when they hear noise). Once the pet is there the door opens and I can go right in. Unless it's a snarling German Shepard, doberman or rottie I just got free access to your home. And even if it is a big dog........Gas darts, Raw steaks....There are ways to distract them, Get inside and lock the door so they can't come back in.

Gee, I'm glad I'm not a criminal.......That seems almost too scary. As if I know what I'm doing. lol

their site isn't loading at the moment..but I'm assuming thats the sliding glass door insert... I don't like it...because it goes on the side that we would be using..and once you put an XL one in ..there isn't much room left for people....

As far as letting someone in... ;) my dogs wouldn't let someone in that they don't know...
