ot driving in the center lane

What ever happened to respectful driving on the interstates these days. you see someone merge on to the highway and right away they are over 2 or 3 lanes before they are up to speed ..no one in front of them but they have to get over.....Every sign I see on the highway says "keep right except to pass" or "slower traffic keep right" Maybe they should make signs that say "see how fast you can get to the center lane and screw up traffic" ...Its pretty bad when you can pass more cars on the right instead of the passing lane ....My thought is if you are being passed on the right you are in the wrong lane ...What's your thoughts

I drive from elyria to painsville every day and 100% agree. People in the far left lane hanging out doing 60mph bug the crap out of me. I run about 75 and unless your being a jerk (read ridding my *** when it's obvious I can't get over) I move right over. I've noticed a lot of loss in common highway manors in the past year or so. mostly young people that were never thought any better.

Yep. Here in Columbus it is a daily thing too. Every morning on the way to work. Then when you DO climb up behind them after following for a bit, hoping they will get the hint, you get flipped off. Some days I wish my car had a large rubber bumper in the front. ;)

I really dont think it is stressed enough in Driver's Education, nor in the adult driving classes.

Well I had a really good driving instructor in the class room and on the road(which wasn't too long ago, I'm not like you old folk on the board, joking), he is the one that always told me to stay out of the fast lane, unless I'm passing or speeding. He called it the hammer lane(fast lane) and grandma lane(right lane) which was funny at the time. After traveling to other countries I feel that we don't have as crazy drivers but disrespectful drivers! I use the burm or emergency lane to pass people if they don't have the respect to get over, it usually gets their attention to move over.

People driving in the left lane doing less than the speed limit think it is their right. They do not seem to care what the rules of the road are. If your just cruzing along, more over. Even worse, are folks with a cell phone glued to their ear and driving in the wrong lane. Going into downtown Cleveland Thursday, some a***** pulled into a one-way street (the wrong way) and just did a U-turn and never seemed to miss a beat on his phone, talking the whole time.
I don't want a rubber-bumper, I want a grill mounted paintball gun to mark these A***** so people can watch out for them. There are very clear licence plates for people in trouble with DUI, there should be plates for idoit drivers.

I think it is that many folks are disrespectful and can't be bothered to give anyone a little respect on the road. The cell phone has only made this problem go from an annoyance to part of everyday driving. Take a concious look one day at how many drivers are on the phone vs not. We did a test at work a couple years ago with a cell blocker and you would be surprised at how much more distracted a driver becomes when their cell no longer is receiving a signal. Does anyone remember the days of I'll call you when I get there?! It is scary some days to drive anywhere, even in slower residential areas because so many are only paying just enough attention to get where they are going.
