Thanks!

I was using my 70-200 4L with a 1.4 converter all day. That gave my f/5.6 wide open so I had to bump the ISO to keep the shutter speeds up. IS would've been a big help.

great shots!!!

i have that lens also, but haven't had a chance to use it much. are you shooting in AV mode so you can set the aperture?

i've noticed with shooting it in full auto mode, that alot of the pictures come out dark even in bright sunny skies. just find it odd that the pics come out underexposed in a full auto mode.

I used a combination of manual and shutter priority (Tv). Because of the distance to the target aperture really wasn't a concern.

You need to understand how your camera meter works. In it's default mode (Evaluative on Canon) it's averaging the light of the whole scene to pick your exposure. If most of the frame is bright sky that's probably not appropriate. Consider switching to a center weighted or spot metering mode (if your camera supports it) for that type of thing. Better yet, use spot metering and manual exposure so you can pick how your main focal point is exposed.

Nice shots beerguy. I'm guessing shooting fast jets is a little difficult? I've been trying to talk the wife into a 70-200 2.8 VR, 1 year later still a no go.

To hell with the lens, I gotta get one of those planes! :D

Almost $400 mil a plane for F-22, but who cares about costs when you want to send the enemy the very best.

Great shots of a great plane! Nice work, beerguy.

Anyone else notice that strange blue ting in the first and third pics? What kind of coating refracts light in that manner?

That's just sunlight refracting off of the condensation. In the 3rd shot, especially, it was almost completely side-lit.

Nice! Keep em comming! I was at the show on Saturday. Did they do stealth bomber flybys on Sunday too? Cant get enough of aircraft. Radio control is as close as I can afford. ;)
