we lost to the celts 2x, true... but the first loss came in the beginning of the season when we were still trying to get our s*** together- bynum hadn't broken out at that point and kobe looked like he was phoning in the season from the start. the second loss came before we had acquired gasol... i think bynum might have been injured at the time as well.
they're a formidable team and they match up very well w/ us, 1-on-1. pierce is becoming a bonfide superstar in these playoffs and i don't trust radmanovic or walton to play him even remotely as well as lebron or tayshaun has. ray allen's got his stroke back and LOVES matching up with kobe (there have been some epic battles between these two over the years) and once or twice he's gotten the better of kobe. garnet is garnet... i think perkins frame and strength is going to give pau all kinds of problems and unless we play some rock solid help defense, rondo's gonna burn fisher and take it to the rack all day. and if we relax for a second against their second team, guys like leon powe, sam cassell and eddie house are more than capable of contributing big.
but i ignore any trace of doubt in my mind.
kobe bryant is a man possessed. he's brought us this far and i don't see him petering out anytime soon. all season long, it almost looked like he was holding something back or just plain getting old. it's clear now that he was just saving it for these moments. for the first time in YEARS we're going to get a finals series that doesn't look like a first round matchup. i can smell a war brewing. it's going to be 7 very emotional games, and win or lose... there will be blood. win or lose, our guys are going to kill themselves trying to bring that trophy back to l.a.
