I've got a "miss" in my old Maxima. Been through all the plugs, wires, cap, rotor thing. I think it might be a burnt valve. Does anyone know where I can take it and not get ripped off?

Thanx

Target Automotive in madison is pretty good. I've used him for years. "Terry"

There is a place over by lucys Lagoon That specializes in Nissans Toyota's ect.. I knew a couple people that used them.. I took my Altima up there a few times. They always seem to do a good job without charging me a mint. But thats been a couple years ago.

LoL ofcourse you could always take it to Nissan :-| Might be a little higher, BUT They will wash it when they are done ;)

Is the miss regular or not? When and how intense?

Sometimes when I first start it up it seems to run fine for a few minutes. Seems like it misses more after it warms up. I know which cylinder the miss is on.

The place by Lucy's is Deihl Nissan and they do a GREAT job. They are a little expensive but you will not get ripped off.

A burnt valve is going to be consistent. Every other revolution (every compression stroke) you're going to get a skip as the compression escapes the cylinder. I'd look at hydraulic valvetrain parts or the afformentioned tuneup stuff for an inconsistent miss. Maybe a blown head or intake gasket or possibly exhaust gasket, depending on what the noise sounds like.

What would you do if it were yours? Where would you take it?

I use Alabama Auto on 72 in Madison for my Mazda truck. They've been great to work with, fair, fast and honest.

I'd consider Diele (Deal?) (dhiel?) Nissan. I'd trust them before anybody else around here.
