So I took some extra blue leds I had laying around and wrapped it around the step below the fireplace/media center.

Very cool Adam. LEDS are cheap and fun. lots of uses and you can sure string a lot with just thin wires and small power supplies.

I enhanced a project with blue LEDS this weekend, myself. Still a work in progress though.

the Afpelwein was foamy in the pic cause I had to warm the fridge up (1951-53 ADMIRAL, a local barn find) to get the tucked away LEDS to adhere with shoo-goo. When the door opens, the LEDS come on, and the fans turn off. door closes, vise versa. 1 switch, 1 relay.

The more that I look at your entertainment center picture with the blue under glow... I think Im going to add the same to the fridge, but put it on the open-door circuit. I think that will add a bunch to effect.

fridge was in an abandoned shack thats getting ready to be torn down, pack rats had chewed all the wiring. Parts were missing. Door seal was crumbling. Only thing working was the compressor. We figure it was last running in the 1980's. Got it for free, just had to drag it up the hill to the pickup truck. Put in a new seal and a johnson controls temperature probe digital controller to operate the compressor and it runs awesome. I was going to turn it into a smoke-house for jerky and stuff, but when the compressor actually ran on the thing it was a total change of plans.

very cool, I assume that's homebrew in there? What styles you stocking?

Currently have an ipa and pale ale that are almost done, brewing a new batch this sunday...thinking maybe a rye ipa or something.

Rye IPA sounds good.

10 month old Apfelwein in those two kegs. backsweetened and carbonated and it tastes like Angry Orchard (which isnt what Apfelwein is supposed to traditionally taste like but I was the only one that appreciated it in its natural state, so had to adapt) Apfelwein is the easiest thing to make.

Made some fruit wine that turned out pretty good and have a micro-vineyard going (51 vines) that will start producing in a few years. Wasnt going to brew beer and just stick to wine but with the ADMIRAL I got encouraged since I could keg it and not bottle the beer. Kegging makes it easy. With the wine gear, all I needed was a 44qt vat to boil beer.

Will be brewing a dunkelweisen beer kit in a couple weeks when the temperatures on the mountain warm up a little more so the fermenting doesnt get interrupted.

Proving once again that reef keepers are a very diverse bunch of nerds with way too much time on our hands.

When you start making some wine from those vines, let me know. I'd love to taste it.

that a nice sized micro vineyard, I have 4 vines going right now and it is only their second year so I am not expecting much from them. Since the only piece of equipment I dont have for wine is the bottle corker I have been planning on trying a batch soon. So much easier than brewing beer too.

The dunkel sounds tasty too, havent brewed that style myself but my friends have had good success with it. Good luck and happy brewing =)

If you havent, look up Ed Wort's Apfelwein. Its all done with store bought stuff and no secondary. Ready to drink in 3 months.

I started with 20 vines and decided that if I could do 20, might as well do 50. Economy of scale was there and I had the space.

Went with Adam's underglow style lighting and added to the fridge.... tied into the door lights so underglow only comes on when the door is opened. Picture doenst do it total justice, but gives the idea.
