OT: HD-DVD - BlueRay Question

Can you play an HD-DVD on a BlueRay player or did I just remember right - those two formats were battling it out so you can't play one on the other?

u r right.. u can't play HD-DVD on bluray player or vice versa

it was battle between VHS and other platform i can't think

before. FYI Bluray officially won.. so HD-DVD price is really really

cheap.. and hard to see these days now

Hey there. I have a hd-dvd player that I bought as an expansion to my xbox 360 Fry's was closing them out for like $30. You could try getting one of those or otherwise I would love to have some hd-dvds of the earth. LMK

the HD-DVD lost the war, there are currently no studios under contract to release movies in that format... Blue Ray just had stronger backing.

to answer the OP question LG did make a bluray/hdDVD player it would play either format but with hdDVD kinda dead now with warner brothers adoption of bluray its kinda pointless to get a hdDVD player

another option is to pick up a BD/HD-DVD ROM for your computer. You can watch from your computer or output to your TV (depending on the quality of your video card).

They are getting pretty darn cheap!

i guess i need to check my bluray player manual real quick on the off chance it will play that format. otherwise:

drdoug - i if my player won't take it; i paid $30, if you want it pm me and let me know what you would like to pay. there was no shipping involved and i did see that i could send it back within 30 days as long as it's unopened which it is. i'm sure the site specified it would only work in hd-dvd players - however, must have been in the fine print. what alerted me was when i opened to package there is a big sitcker that says only works in hd-dvd players.

thanks for the other suggestions guys. i don't have a dvd collection so at this point it would be pointless for me to invest in outgoing technology. i know now not to buy anymore hd-dvd's.
