OT: Hiking trip to the Stone Door :)

Got tubes?
Hi all!

Just thought I'd share some pictures of our class' trip to the Stone Door. :)

There were some great views! I absolutely love camping and have done so my entire life, but I'm just now getting into hiking. I like it a lot if nothing else for the fact that you can get to some seriously remote areas that just aren't accessible with vehicles.

Anyway, we did about 9 miles. 1 mile to the door, we took the Big Creek Gorge trail (which will ABSOLUTELY wear you out! TONS of rocks and a pretty steep haul at the very end) which was about 4 miles I think, a one mile detour to Ranger Falls (which just disappears into a sinkhole... very neat) and then stayed at Allum Gap. The next morning we took the quick trail out (don't remember the name... it was 2.9 miles). I hear the Big Creek Rim trail is great and I plan on hiking it with my wife a little later.

We had a great time! We've got a pretty good class... no one complained and moaned or anything (which definitely isn't guaranteed :D ) and everyone got along for the most part.

Anyway, the pics. All of them can be found here , but here are some of the better ones.

Just thought I'd share. :)

Even if you're not a big backpacker, there are a few nice places you can get to around there with a relatively short day hike... so I'd recommend the place for anyone. It is quite beautiful and I haven't seen a picture of the place yet that does it justice.
