OT: Hughes x Gracie this weekend

off topic...lots going on this weekend...x men3, frag swap but ...
this saturday is ufc 60. hughes vs. gracie. Huge fight. i hope royce pulls it off but i just cant see how. check it out fellow reefers.

gracie all the way. gracie used to kick 4 dudes arse in one night to be the champ. now all he has to do is beat one. i do understand thing are different now in the sports and fighters now have evolved into grapplers/strikers and gracie is one a dimentional fighter from what everyone thinks and says. i believe he the experiance and the skill to beat hughes. but again it only takes one punch! = ) i will def be watching. does any one know who else is fighting that night?

that sakara vs. lister fight is gonna be pretty good. typical striker vs. grappler. but it mostly a pretty weak card with exception of the main event.
WAR royce!! hope matt gets cocky and gets tapped.

Hughes all the way. He is a well rounded fighter. Gracie is a legand and champion but I don't think he can go toe to toe with Hughes.
Hughes's record is 40-4-0, Gracie 13-1-2 ...I mean common.

matt will probably win by ground and pound or decision, but royce is my hero. Nice guy and very humble in person.
its like the time my quiet clownfish went to town with my wrasse, he got owned but i love the lil orange bugger for his guts. still my fav. fish to this day!

it's amazing seeing him take down guys twice his size by messing with their joints!

btw, it's really hard to land a punch on a guy who's clinging on to you like zoas on live rock!!

All of these guys put on a good show- can't wait to see how swick matches up with riggs =)

Keep in mind Matt is moving up a class to 175, Royce is much bigger than him so who knows what will happen....

I would love to see Gracie win. I do remember that although Gracie demolished the big guys who were slow and lumbering, he had great trouble with smaller, quicker, athletic guys like Kimo and Shamrock. I must say that in his prime I would definitly take Gracie over Hughes. Even though everyone now knows grappling, there has been no one who was as great at it as Royce Gracie!

yup, pay per view... i think its 40 bucks... the Diego sanchez one is going to be good. but my money is still on Hughes

they predicted 20,000 at staples for this event. dont know if its gonna be that crowded. i had decent tix but sold em. i like watching it on tv. the last one at the pond was pretty cool in person though. but tv is better cuz the cage gets in the way.
maybe gho will have it his swap for those going.

lol royce is dead. he has no chance. he was good in ufc when he fought " karate experts" and "olympic wrestlers". he has top skills in jiu jitsu. his striking is terrible, his take downs are terrible, his sprawl is terrible. he has a chance, but thats it. he has a poor record outside of UFC. Sakuraba wiped the floor with him

I hope you are not comparing Matt Hughes with a no holds barred legend like Sakuraba.

Also Gracie was in the UFC before the olympic wrestlers ever thought about entering the octegon. And of all types of fighting styles Olympic wrestlers transform the best into no holds barred fighters because of the strength, balance and agility. The problem is that there are not many wrestlers at that level to begin with.

Gracie was in the UFC with Severn, not a notable olympic athelete but an alternate non the less. Gracie beat him as well.

lol and no, i would not compare hughs with sakuraba, however i think that fight would be more evenly matched.

royce was from a diffrent era. royce can kick my butt. royce can kick alot of peoples butts. but he is not on the same level as hughs, and never will be. put everyone that hughs has foguth against royce, and put everyone royce has fought against hughs. you will see royce losing alot more then hughs would.

no one in ufc could take fedor. "wand" would most likely beat chuck. crocop would most likely beat chuck. ninja would also destroy alot of them.

wand has fought in ufc tho, and was DESTROYED by vitor back in the day
