I know some specific spots can be secrets but I'm just looking for a public pier where usually people go and catch decent fish. I've heard about piers in Hallandale and keys but not sure the location since I haven't don't fishing off a pier in years. Let me know if there are general places or any tips..

I used to do well at the pier in Juno (North Palm Beach). Used to catch blue runners, jacks, snook and a bunch of look downs. Never kept any of them, but always enjoyed the catch.

I heard new pirt pier just opened back up in north miami beach or dania beach pier both used to be great but juno is worth the ride for monster snook

The newport pier just reopened and is pretty nice. It's 163 st and Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles. And as of right now it's free to fish there.

I like to use live shrimp and fresh ballyhoo. But you want to use what ever bait is running this time of year.

Google Boatlessfishing or boatlessfisherman

It's another forum I used to frequent. That is full of information.

Avoid the pier in Pompano Beach. Especially now that the end of the pier is blocked off for construction. But seems like that spot dies more and more every time I go.

Heard the Hillsborough and Juno piers are awesome, but can tend to be crowded since they're so popular.

Right now the snapper are active during the evening. Like Marvin said shrimp or fresh cut bait at Long Key bridge. Other bridges do just as well. To be successful in the Keys you need to learn to tides.

Yea just saw the boatless on google great load of info, but found cool spots thanks to you guys. I was planning on just going with live shrimp. Heading out late in the evening till maybe 1am. I do appreciate the great info

If you are going to the keys, I'd highly recommend taking some ballyhoo too.

Let us know how you do.

Has anyone gone up to Snook Islands in Lake Worth? I'm thinking about heading up there this summer. I'm from central FL, and I miss the whole Banana River/Indian River/Mosquito Lagoon scene up there. Very laid back. There's not much in the way of shoreline "river" fishing in the intercoastal down here in Broward that I know of.

beach fishing the south side of Juno pier is good at sunrise & sunset for snook. Around 15 years ago before they reopened the pier until around 2005, I would fish there around 5 days a week. It was out of control! We used pretty light setups 6lb PowerPro, 15lb flouro leaders and small circle hooks baited with spanish sardines we would castnet & decent sized croakers we would catch with sibikis. The days when the surf was too rough to use the castnet bait, we would just use some plugs & catch plenty. Around 2005 the beach fishing there for snook in June, July, & August slowed down tremendously. I don't know if it was the rise in water temps, overfishing, etc (it was before those 2 really cold winters that slowed it down even further), but it's not even close to what it used to be, but it's still pretty good. I didn't fish off the actual pier too much, so I can't say anything about that, but there are plenty of monster snook on the beach. Just don't go wading out into the surf if you want to beach fish there. The best spot is literally right on the beach in much shallower water than you would think. Boynton Beach inlet is a great spot as well for snook, and pretty decent for permit
