OT: Love Canal Disaster

There also was a Hooker Chemical factory in North Tonawanda where I live, lots of old chemical barrels started popping up in wooded areas around the factory..

This ended very different though, there was hush money handed out,the factory was shut down and then knocked down was fenced in and planted with grass, there was court actions but they all went away..

Nobody had the stomach for another Love Canal..

I had a teacher ay Aquinas that I believe lived at or near love canal the nice thing is he happens to be an environmental science teacher as well. If you would like I can give you his contact info just toss me a pm. If in deed he was there I am sure he would love to help he was a great teacher on of my favorites from way back when

I used to drive back there many years ago. It was pretty eerie, loved it. Scary boarded up ghost town. Not sure any relation but I remember seeing several dead birds on the side of the road and this was around 10 years after it happened.

I used to always take my out of town friends/family from AZ back there and they couldn't believe their eye's. Not so fun anymore.

Not so fun anymore.
Sounds like SOMEBODY is a little morbid! "C'mon kids, let's go hang out at Love Canal and make fun of all the sick people!" :lmao:

I know what you mean, but "not as interesting" probably would have been a better way to phase it!

i lived in Los Angeles for 15 years. After the big Northridge quake in '92? All the freeway overpasses were collapsed...and i had family visit from NY. That was the first thing they wanted to see. I think, as part of human nature, we like to see the "there but for the grace of God go I" sort of things...because it helps us realize how lucky we are to NOT be a part of whatever went wrong. And I throw that out there for Mike....another aspect of your research you may want to integrate into your final draft....(yeah, i'm a closet journalist. it's what i went to school for.)
