OT: Mitchell Report

Now that we are one the subject of sports, what do you guys think about this? I know it will basically do nothing for baseball in terms of cleaning up the sport, but do you think this will prompt Congress to step in and take over?

What I found interesting is that the current bargain agreement is in effect until 2011. That means it will be tough for any change to occur until then. I may be misunderstanding this policy, but the union is one of the strongest of all time, so it will be interesting to see what goes on from here.

I'm watching it now.

All I can say is what a BIG black eye this on the last decade of MLB. I don't know whats going to happen, but I think there needs to be some serious reform to get that garbage out of pro sports.... even if it means less stats, or action, or whatever. JMO.

Yeah, but perhaps Selig could use his "Better Interest" clause here. Although based on his past, I don't think hes going to do anything. He probably should bare a majority of the blame for not doing anything sooner

Just sucks as MLB has been gaining tons of interest again within the past decade as well. Their policies have been lacking, and if Bud were PROACTIVE rather than reactive then this probably would not have happened. Bud has always been reacting, and has been a pretty bad commish within the past decade as well. Oh well, just interesting to see the whole list.

Let me start by saying Selig is an idiot! Ok.

I use to love the A's. Went to the games. But for the past i would say 5-10 yrs i just cannot sit and watch a game. It is just brutal to watch on TV . It just seems so long.

Agreed it does need cleaning up.

I saw Clemens got named with Petitte and Tejada.

I just have no respect for liers. I loved Big Mac with the A's. But look at his rookie card and then look at 5 yrs later. That guy was juicing big time. You do not grow that fast. Everyone knows he juicede so why not just say it and be done with it. Instead his name will always come up and not for the good.

Look at Giambi. I give him much respect.

LOL, I wish I was watching it! Clemens being names in this was kind of a shock, but at this point in time, how can you be shocked by anyone being liked to steroids in baseball these days!!! Hopefully this will bring some light to baseball's dark decade. I hope none of the players named make it into the Hall of Fame. If they do, what does that say about the people who voted them in? The people already in the Hall deserve to be there with others who played the game the right way

See there is the debate. How do you know that the people in the hall "did it the right way"?

They named about 20 players before the official report. Sacramento's own Fernando Vina had a brief mention as well.

JIm, how are you watching it, Shouldn't you be at work:bum: :p

Been home with the flu since Tuesday :(

I still managed to make a couple of deals via blackberry though ;)

Wow. As I am skimming through the names, it is a sad day for a baseball fan. I love the game, the suicide squeeze, the hit and run and even the sacrifice bunt, but today, I am sick to my stomach.

I am a Giants fan and always will be. I'd be an idiot not to recongnize what has gone on, especially in SF, but... I just want to vomit as a baseball fan. I guess that is one reason I have not been to a game in years. I told myself that I would not go and support drug addicts.

I still don't get Giants fans. How could they support a team that had Barry Bonds on it?! Ive heard the "nothings been" proven argument, but c'mon!!! I agree, no one really knows if they old timers were on roids or anything of that sort, but even after all these years, you have never heard anything of the sort. Spitballs are one thing, but changing the physical shape of your body? I do find it hard to believe that any of the legends of baseball were on anything. I dont think Hank was juicing when he was playing. It was just a different time period and a different frame of mind. Those people played the game for the love of the game, which is not the case anymore. But as I said before, nothing in baseball surprises me anymore. I love the game and everything it once stood for. I just hope that the game is brought back to what it once was

As I was going through the names, I just kept saying, "Not him too". Benito Santiago was the one that made me the saddest.

I Hate the Giants. But you still have to support your team. Just because one guy muddies the water doesnt mean you turn your back on your team.

Look at the Babehewas juicing, LOL, Jack Daniels maybe.

I am not one of those people who support that claim. I am one of those fans who grew up a giants fans hearing stories about the team from my father. I remember when I was given a Willie McCovey baseball card. I think that is what did it for me.

This is not about Barry, with or without, one the greats of all time. I am not trying to debate that.

I was surprised to hear that Big Mac's name was brought up to DEA agents in the early 90's in a report out of Detroit. Thats a long time ago.
