OT: NBA Playoffs

Great game by the Celtics last night. Their defense was stifling.

But you gotta wonder how a team can get outcalled on fouls 28-3 going into the 3rd quarter. Kinda funny how the Lakers started coming back after Kobe got his technical and the refs started to call it both ways. That's not to say that was the only reason they were losing at that point. We were clanking balls left and right and Pierce and Powe were killing us. But Pau was getting clobbered inside and no calls were made. Especially when going after rebounds. Yet when we went down to the other end Powe was getting ticky tacks called. At least call it the same both ways...that's all I ask.

Now Kobe, that was a different story. Sometimes I wonder what the hell he's always complaining about. Half of his whining fits are showed on the replay with no contact whatsoever. Shut up and play Kobe...sheesh!

Good game by the boys in green. Let's see how they do in LA now...

Horrible officiating last night (and throughout the play-offs I might add) Cough...cough... the Brent Barry no call......

Words cannot express my lack of enthusiasm for the NBA. Its turning into the WWF or WWE (whatever it is). The games are completely controlled by the ref's and their is NO consistency on calling. Its a joke.

I'm rooting against the Lakers and STILL know they go robbed.

Alot was said (and brushed right under the table soon afterwards) when Tim Donaghy got busted for cheating/gambling on NBA games. It goes WAY deeper than everyone knows/wants to believe.

Although I was happy to see LA lose, I know they got robbed. Plain and simple.

they def didnt get robbed....they played sloppy imo....they where shut down and now they are *****ing about it.....celtics are the best defensive team in the last decade(look at the numbers, only team better was the 94 knicks and barley o and the 2004 spurs barley) the lakers got frustrated and fouled they suck and are gonna lost this series 4-2

So the 38 free throw attempts that the Celtics got over the 10 attempts the Lakers got doesn't seem a little off to you???

Really???

The refs controlled that game. Period.

i dont think so the celtics controlled that game, ive played basketball at all levels except pro(middle,hs,college) i have seen many games go that way, its plain and simple they played sloppy the celtics just played great d

You know what Jim, it all evens out in the end which is why I never complain about officiating. I do agree that the refs have the ability to take over a game, but you can say that in almost all sports. I'm sure when the Lakers go home, they will also be getting some "questionable" calls ie. the "Brent Barry no call." But in order for them to win and make this a series, they are going to need more than a few calls from the refs

hahah okay u win on that one! ill give in a lil it was AMAZING de on the celtics part BUT there was some no calls...do i think it affected the out come? no but i dont think it hurt it either :) hows that i gave in a lil haha

Must agree. The calls the refs made causes you as a player to take a little bit off, and not play as agressive as you would like to play. Getting called on tiny fouls will throw you off your game. What do you think there is just so much offense coming from the Celtics as of late? They just can't D up because of the fouls they are gettin.

BR143, yes, they will need more than a few calls from the refs. Absolutely. But the game should be called fair. A foul is a foul is a foul. If they don't call it one way, but call it the other, then when they change venues it reverses, not cool.

OP1,

Yeah, you gave a little. I will too. I thought thew Celtics played great on both sides of the ball. Especially when they held on at the end. I just thought the Celtics got to the line an AWEFUL lot. Who knows, maybe it was all the crack I was smoking yesterday :wildone:

;)

hahahah wellll *** share? ship to 14445 haha

I will also withdraw my statement that the Lakers got "robbed". I don't feel that the game was completely taken from them. I just feel they were "cheated" during the course of the game :)

I gave some more ;)

I hate the lakers. Love the one play where posey was coverin Kobe and kobe lost the ball out of his hands and it went OB then he throws his arms up and falls back a little. They showed the play a few times and Posey wasnt even close to touching him but Kobe was crying the whole way back down court.

Refs are probably sick and tired of Him and Phil Jackson complaining all the time and i don't blame the Refs. Who wants 2 cry babies yelling at you all game?

Ya...I saw that too. Kobe is my boy...but that was just plain pathetic. He just flat out lost the ball and started crying. That's exactly what I was talking about. But I'm guessing he was just getting frustrated by that point with the uneven officiating.

I say the NBA should clamp down on all the crying to the refs. Start calling more Techs. I mean it is nearly every play at this point. But at the same time...there should be some oversight and fines levied if poor officiating occurs. Especially when it is blatantly one sided as it was through the 3rd period last night. Start holding these guys accountable.
