OT- need computer help Can't connect to internet with desktop

You need to hit F2 before it boots windows. Try hitting during system post. Timing is key to entering setup. It must be hit before windows boots.

Didn't realize that it was your desktop that has a network card problem. If card is bad, desktop would probably require a PCI card. PCI ethernet cards are cheap. Can even pick up a PCI ethernet card at walmart for about $20.00

I would say try what ramtheory said and if that does not work run to wally world or any office supply store and pic up a new nic. Like someone stated before you should be able to pic one up for less then $20

When we have a power outages at work I can almost always count on replacing a nic or two. I have also lost a few ports on a switch before.

Every computer is different. It could be F2, F8, F10, F12 and more.

There are a million things you can do

You can go to you device manager and is there a yellow ? next to it?

You can try going through your controll panel. Add new hardware, and hard wire it if you can

Are you wireless on your desktop?

You can use the system restore as you may have run into a conflict. Start>All Programs>System Tools>System Restore

The bottom is what I'd do first personally. Just go back a couple days

Thanks for all the help guys. After a long web chat session with Gateway's technical support, it was determined that I needed a new ethernet card. $24 at Staples and 5 minutes later I'm up and running. Should have done this inthe first place.
