Everyone hopefully someone can help us out. Our new puppy whimpers more than any dog I have ever had durning the night. We tried putting a towel over yhe cage, introduced a ticking clock to impersonate momma's heart, and we are putting a radio on today. Any suggestions would be great other than the obvious, TIME. We just want to help her out through the seperation.

Thanks

try a stuffed animals and let it whimper in the cage the more you run in there the worse it will be.

How old is the pup? i also suggest the stuffed animals and letting it do it. As nixer stated the more you come to him/her the longer it will continue.

move the crate into your room. then transition it out after a week.

go back to the breeder, bring a toy, give it to momma for a day then take it back and put in the crate.

Put the dog outside. :lol2:

Never had a puppy, so I can't be of much real assistance, but all those ideas sound like they might help with the problem.

you should see my advice for dealing with bunnies.

Plus 1 on the move the puppy in the bedroom but also what type of pup? I mean some dogs are pack dogs and its almost natural for them to sleep near by.

I'm pretty sure all dogs are pack dogs.

The best bet is to leave it be. We have had many puppies and it sucks for the 1st week but, then they/we get used to it.. Sometimes soft music works but, we found it best to tough it out.

+1 let it cry. my basset wimpered for 2 weeks straight. the more you try to sooth it the worse it will get. its a change for the little guy-being caged and alone. after alittle bit he'll figure out that the cage is his "safe" place. you'll find him sleeping in it even with the door open. be patient. after cage breaking 5 different breeds over the years- i'm no expert but i've been around the block. FWIW. john

Our puppy would raise total hell when put in a cage, we got a dog bed and put it in our room and he was totally fine. You just have to make sure you take him/her out as much as possible so no accidents. I have had lots of dogs and never had one in a cage in my house.

ive had labs my entire life if you dont cage train them they will tear up your house. typically the first week is the worst. once they get used to the cage and are house trained i use the cage only if the dog is bad. eventually you dont even have to close the door the dog will go there whenever its bad or tired door open or not.

Time will cure it. The dog is like *** why am i in a new home. I have 3 labs currently and they all did it for a little bit. You have to sleep through it and the dog will learn that thats how its going to be and get comfy with it. I dont think moving the cage to a different room will do anything but raise the chance of it barking since he will be able to see you guys and want to be let out.
