OT: Newest Scuba Diver

Sierra got her OW scuba certification. She spent 4 long weeks doing class/pool work, one weekend at the lake, and one weekend at Monterey. She passed her written exam with a score of 90%. She was able to master all the basic scuba skills. The only problem she had was with trying to disconnect the low pressure hose (because her fingers are small) and crawling out of the water (because she's carrying about 60lbs of equipment on her 75lb frame).

During the class, she insisted assembling her own gear and carrying them herself. Got to give the girl credit for toughing it out. Now she wants to go to Hawaii to dive. :D

Kona Coast is the best in Hawaii. Place of Refuge is a great shore dive, especially for beginners, and Kahalu'u Beach Park has so many fish you can spend hours there, and it's only 4-6' deep.

Second that. I love it there and that's where I learned how to dive.

Congrats!

This brings back some open water memories from a long, long time ago. We had ours at Meeks Bay up in Lake Tahoe. It was very cold :)

Congrats

If she can dive Monterey she can dive anywhere. Most warm places in the world cancel the dives when the waves are like they are in the picture.
