ok.. so I was speeding. anyone taken this? talk aobut BOOORING. it reado so very slow... UGH.. what ever happened to COmedy defensive driving?

It's better than sitting in a room for 4 hour or 8 hours, though (I've had too many tickets to even go in to since I've been in the ticket writting, but let all other crime escalate, capital of the world). You know priorities are mixed up when nashville rated as high for several weeks in unsolved violent crimes as Chicago... I guess you don't make money off of criminals, though, huh. 80 on the interstate (I drive two hours a day to and fro work-I get pulled over in the most rural areas by city cops on the interstate...) is not excessive speed to me... I took the 4 hour online class and finished it in about two and a half (got the ticket the day they decided they needed more money to come from tickets and started the program).

Yea, Evil knevil got me leaving town headed to menphis. just past briley. 75 in 55. First tix in Tn since I moved here in 2000. UGH, I forgot how cut and dry that crap is...

yeah, back in the day, they might give you a warning, but in a city where they keep finding ways to make money through the police department (thank you Serpas and Purcells), there is little to no likelihood of getting off with a warning. I guess if it is a means to an end, we can give up a few deaths and robberies (every cop that has pulled me over has been nothing but polite, so don't get me wrong, I just think the people who make policy have the wrong priorities).

well, I passed. Whooptiedoo... done . but gary, I will give then this, this was one of the cheaper tickets. I was in IN and got a 70 in 55 and it was about $165, and this one with DD was only 105. $95 w/o DD

My ticket for 5 over in a 55 on the PA turnpike cost me $180 (I was actually going 70, but he knocked it down... I thought I was in a 65... stupid PA roads). Each of my tickets in Nashville cost me $50 each (62 in a 55... yes, I was actually doing 62 and got a ticket for it; and 43 in a 35).

Sounds to me like TN cops need to learn a lesson in economics... raise the price of a ticket and only give them out to people who are really being wreckless. This would free more cops for catching dangerous criminals and supply the necessary funds for running a police department.

Way i view is it.... its a "privilege tax" at some point you pay a tax to drive fast or (as i do) drive in that lane on the left that at one time was for faster traffic.

On another note.... i got a ticket one time for doing "45 in a 35", even though the speed limit was clearly posted 45. I went to court over it.... and get this.... I lost..... I was scolded for "bringing petty arguments into my court room".

Its all about money, it all costs at some point.
