OT: Plea for prayers... sorry to post this

Thanks for all the pms w/ feedback so far and feel free to keep them coming. :thumbsup: Oh, and I should have said nursing care facilities but have always considered nursing homes and retirement homes one and the same but now know there's a difference...

Thanks for the prayer Chris. Next time we see Joe I'm going to share with him the fact that sooo many people who don't even know him shared concern and prayers for him. I'm sure that'll trigger another smile.

I was asked by someone yesterday what his status is so I figured I would share w/ everyone the status as of now.

Joe was transferred to Monroe Comm Hosp last Friday and is amazing all of us in new ways every day. We will be going to visit him today again but the last time (Sunday) was so thrilling we just don't know what to expect next. Sunday you could see emotions on his face and we can actually make real eye contact w/ him now. He did this complicated handshake with one of our friends and when we were leaving he gave us the peace sign, typical Joe. He was also trying his hardest to get out of bed so they have him in a low, concave bed now along with pads all over the floor. Well... last night he did it. They found him on the floor by the door sleeping with a small pillow. He is definately REALLY agitated right now and knows what is going on to a large degree. He cannot talk yet as they still have the trach in. As soon as he responds more to commands when being evaluated he will go to St.Mary's to start rehab as they do a lot of work with brain trauma rehab.

While he is not mentally 100% yet it is only a matter of time. He is physically 100% and the personality characteristics that defined him prior to the accident are showing through VERY strongly. It may be a long road for him to relearn a lot of things but he is our miracle regardless at this point.

Thank you so much everyone for the prayers! Between this website and all the others involved in coming together and praying for him I truly believe that the multitude of prayers were not missed by the "powers that be".
