OT ponds

Still pricing and sizing out components, but recommendations on places to buy the liners?

And does the underlayment have to be anything special? Or just “something?

Thanks!

Underlayment should be soft enough to pad it and firm enough to prevent punctures from roots or stone underneath. I think mine was partially old carpet remnants.

I second Spartans suggestion for a bottom drain and also eliminating a shelf if you have herons in the area. Without the drain at some point you will be removing sludge from the bottom, which is not fun.

I put those in mainly as stairs to get out, should someone go in the drink. Secondarily as places to place lillies. The far left is where the water feature will be. Nothing raging, some sort of spillway. I needed To leave that shelf to place more rock work. They are 1-1.5 feet and dip off to 2 more feet of water. I'm planning a small hideaway tunnel as well.

We don't have a slimmer on our pond, basic modified pool filter waterfall etc uv light and it's been going strong for 10 plus years

Well mines done for the most part. Lots of finish work to do on the surround but the pond and waterfall with skimmer are fully functional. Just added 8 small Koi yesterday. Estimated volume is 1100-1000 gallons. It’s a shame, but I have no clue how to post pics anymore. The traditional method in here don’t work either.

Damn, that sucks. I was really hoping to see it. Ive actually been to your house before. You gave me a bunch of frags when i first got into the hobby. Your reef was so dope. That was in 2009 i think. Im sure its way better by now.

Nah, new house, smaller reef
My 180 was sick
Got a 120 now, less maintenance, less bling, you know the deal LJ
I cant get Pix to post
So irritating!

Lol, ya do remember. Yeah your 180 was wicked dope! Wish i was able to keep all those frags i got from ya back then. They were some nice acros! But now im older and wiser, ha, nah just older and settled. Just Glad i was finally able to get back to the best hobby in the world.
