OT: puppies

I hope some of you don't think my posting about dogs needing homes is bothersome on this forum. I figure most of us love animals so once again...any takers for pups?

These are shepard mixes. There are 5 seven week old girls and their mom who need homes. The Mom is about 50lbs and great with children. She let her very new human friends handle her pups and is very sweet natured. With her permission, (the Mom's, not the dogs) I have posted the foster home Mom's letter:

We’ve been playing phone tag, so I thought it might be best to email you â€"œ

I spoke with you 7 weeks ago today about a pregnant dog that found her way to our house and had been hanging out here for a week. I had just had the vet out to our house and he thought she was about 2-3 weeks away from delivery. We had planned on keeping her and possibly one of the pups, but she tangled up with our 10 year old dog that evening (she outweighed her by 20 lbs!) and so we had to find a new home for her. You encouraged me to take her to the Edmond Animal Shelter if I didn’t have anyone else to take her.

Well, that was the plan until the next day when I discovered 7 puppies in the Igloo with her! We’ve been caring for her and the pups for 7 weeks now, and it’s time to find homes for (almost) all of them.

I have some flyers out and the kids have been spreading the word, but so far we’ve only had 1 taker â€"œ our Terminix technician picked up one of them last weekend. We’ve decided to keep 1 ourselves. We still need to find homes for 5 females and the mother.

Our plan is to find homes for all that we can in the next week or two, and then bring those remaining to the Shelter. However, we don’t want to do that if there is a chance they will be put down. We’ve become quite attached to these little things and can’t bear to think they might not get a chance to live.
I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this situation when you get a few minutes.

Thank you!

FYI: The Edmond animal shelter doesn't euthanize dogs unless they deem them to be unadoptable. They are tested for temperment and if judged good, kept until they are adopted.
Puppies are usually adopted fairly soon. Anyone interested in volunteering at the Edmond Animal shelter: http://www.pawsforlifeinc.com/index.html

The OKC animal shelter is a whole different story as far as the no kill policy.

Thanks for help-
Sheryl
