OT: Sac Kings let's here your thoughts

Well, looks like Stan thinks that Orlando is the better option...... I wonder why??????

Why wouldn't he want to come to Sac?????? The Maloofs and Petrie have done so much since we traded Webber to build a championship caliber team.......(cough..cough... yeah right...)

Why would anyone miss this opportunity?????? Coaching a team with an allstar line up like ours.......

What a joke....

In my honest opinion, the Kings are the joke. Our squad has less high quality talent than 90% of the teams in the league. Bibby is the only execption (and that can even be argued). Rif, Thomas, Miller, Artest..... These are our starters? And teams like Dallas and Phoenix have players like Nash, Nowitzki, Stoudamire, Terry, Finley, just to name a few.......? And we're supposed to compete? The team management must see the difference in caliber here...... Thet're not stupid.

So.... the Maloofs have either dropped the ball in the biggest way in NBA franchise history, or are gearing up to move, and the people here in Sac are the only ones who refuse to see it.....

Should we start our good-bye's now? Or are the Maloofs and Petrie gonna make some REAL moves, and get some REAL talent?

Jim

BTW, I was born and raised here in Sac. I've been going to games since the old arena. I love our team, but hate where it is now.... which is in the cellar of the Pacific Division........ again......

You summed it up just right Jim. This team is not only lacking talent but has several long contracts to these old useless scrubs insuring that the team will be bad for another 2-3 years. By then they should in Anaheim, Vegas, or Oklahoma. This is a sad time to be a King's fan:(

Re: OT: Sac Kings let's here your thoughts

Jim,

you have to sit back and appreciate this awesome team.

i bet some ex coach in southern texas is having a good laugh at our expense. the owners have screwed things up royally. they have handcuffed the GM and decided to make moves on their own.

overpaying for bibby (petrie recommended them to pay him $68m which the same contract was offered to elton brand.. but they decided to offer him 77m),firing of rick adelman, not trading artest last summer thus not dismantling the team last summer, hiring of musselman,

sacramento will not be moving to another city. i'm sure david stern won't allow it. there is hope with this team though.. if the maloofs would swallow their pride, pull their heads out of their azzes and allow a rebuild (they have stated they do not like getting worse before getting good) they need to move the disgruntled vets on this team for some young talent, draft picks and expiring contracts. if the maloofs played their cards right last summer, we could have been in the running for oden, durant or at least a top 5 pick. instead they hired some high school JV coach that kept trying to win games when we were clearly out of the playoffs!! :mad2:

sacramento should have acted fast and courted SVG from the beginning. i was hoping they would have tried to get him last summer. we missed the train on SVG though. there are a few coaches that could be good for a rebuild.. mario elie, terry porter ..

we'll know which direction this team is headed draft day. if petrie does what he says hes looking to do.. (get another draft pick) you know there will be hope.

Since the guy's originally from Martinez, I thought the Kings had a really good shot. You can really sum it up in just two words....

.....DWIGHT HOWARD!

Most feel it was not if, but when will Ron Artest screw this up. It was working out great until the Maloofs decided to get rid of the one guy that was able to keep Artest focused. Now, Adelman's sitting pretty with two franchise players on his team.

Anyway...

...it looks like Kurt Rambis will be the next coach:p

Great responses guys!

P,
thats exactly how I see it. But the Maloofs need to what ol' M Cuban is and SPEND THE MONEY. Heck, eat some of those contracts and get some winners........

Sam,
I see what you're saying. And I hope they don't go anywhere!!!! But David Stern will not pull the rip cords on their plans (if there are any) if the city of Sacramento won't even support a new arena. He wants to make the league better (more profitable), and forcing the Kings to stay in Sactown is not doing that. The Maloofs also seem to be putting a garbage product on the floor, so Sacramento fans become more and more alienated. I hope this all just me freaking out.... but if the shoe fits..... I mean, we're talking zero effort on building a championship team here.....

Karl,
DH is the man. That is the exact type of player the kings should be scouting. Young, athletic, young, big... did I say young?

Jim

We got good young talent in : kevin martin (reminds me of peja though just shoot the damn ball!) francisco garcia , justin williams ... I like artest the only one close to all-star we really have on this team. I mean bibby was but he has been slipping but im willing to give him another shot. Brad, Kenny and Sharrief is where are problem is. We need to trade for a decent pf or center. We have a decent chance of getting a good player in the draft if we can make one good move this offseason i think it will be a start back into the playoffs and building a contending team in the next couple of years. We should try to go after: shawn marion, kevin garnnett ( in our wildest dreams) maybe another first round draft pick..

Yes we do have some youngsters, but I'm talking about building a real team.

Names like KM, FG, JW..... where do they stand next to say... Tim Duncan? Or Kobe Bryant? or LeBron James? Or Amre Stoudamire? Or Dwight Howard? and this list can on, and on.....

My point is, yes they're good players. But not even close to great. Infact IMO, they are so far from great, our team sucks :(

And yes, a good PF and C are what we need.

I also must say that Ron-Ron is garbage, was garbage and will never win a championship. But he can play D and rebound. But he needs to focus more on the team aspect of the game, and less on his rap career.....

i never said they were superstars ... i said good young players to build around and find that superstar... Tim Duncan, James, Howard were number 1 picks. Suns got lucky twice with the number 9 pick getting stoudamire and marion. Kobe was picked late as well. Maybe we can get lucky with the 10 pick i doubt it. But with out a top 1-3 pick its hard to find a superstar. Ron garbage? 19 points 7 rebounds 3 assist and 2 steals a game i'll take that. He plays hard too now for his rap career yes garbage. Bibby and shareef were top 3 picks.

Yes i did a lil homework, but our team does suck but i don't think its that bad as it seems, aslong as we make a very good move and get a good draft pick we will be on our way up. If not then another season of can't stand watching this team play!

I agree jdizz. I hope I didn't come off as stand-offish :)

Ron does do great things on the court, but I feel that he is not good for the "team" chemistry. He does contibute, he's very athletic, but I also see him try to take the whole game on his shoulders from time to time, and I just feel he's not good enough/focused enough to do so. But its just my opinon ;)

Artest is a phenomenal player. It's mind boggling that someone at his size and weight could lead the league in steals. At his best, he's a top 10 player. If a coach can make a connection and relate to him, there would be very few players you'd want to go to war with other than Ron.

Unfortunately, this is a players league, and coaches almost need to have a degree in psychology to make it at the professional level, as these athletes require pampering.

This is why so many brilliant college coaches falter in the NBA, and inexperienced former players flourish.

The rebuild is going to be a very LONG and PAINFUL process, as it's extremely tough to get free-agents to sign in Sacramento. The only reason it was easy before, was because Webber made this team competitive. Petrie pulled off that deal because the Bullets wanted Webber out of Washington.

Talentwise he is top 10 ANYWHERE.... but since he is a head case he never CONSISTENTLY plays at that level.

Top 10? WOW so you would take him over these 10 players if he wasnt a head case

Duncan
Lebron
Nowitski
Nash
Stoudemire
Garnett
Kobe
Mcgrady
Wade
Carmelo
AI
parker
Kidd

If i was to start a frabchise tomorrow i would take all these guys over Artest

i would take him over the last three anytime and we all saw dirk pull a peja in this years playoffs with his no heart showing against the warriors but still i don't think he is top 10 but in the top 20 for sure.

That's a good list, Davey. We all evaluate players differently. If I don't take into account, Artest's personality, like yobo, there are 3 players on your list that I'd take Artest over.

They would be, in no particular order:

Carmelo
Parker
AI

Take him over Kidd?

You must be kidding, no pun intended?

The guy seems like he averages a triple double nightly. even the nights he doesnt have one he is very close to one.

The nets would never even be in the palyoffs without KIdd.

I will give Karl the 3 he mentioned but i will not give you Kidd:)

By the way Karl that is 10 players even witout the 3:)

I'd put McGrady below Artest. Ron has shined before in the Playoffs for the Pacers. McGrady still hasn't gotten past the 1st round.

But honestly Karl, this year it wasn't T-macs fault.

But your opinion is your opinion :)

As for Artest, he's not a bad player. I just feel that he is not the man to be our go-to guy, or to build a team around.

I'd take tmac over Artest just because he not crazy enough to ever go into the stands and start cracking skulls. Any player that tries a stunt like that *EVER*, has serious issues, and should not be considerd anything but a head case with anger management problems.

He'd be a good roll player, but his ego will never let him step down to that roll.

I'd like to see us get Bonzi back. But the problem is we need to draft a quality PF, or trade for one...
