OT: So Mad right now.... Camera is a total loss!!!

I hope she does feel stupid (we all make mistakes) and pays up.
If she doesn't pay, depending on your Ins. Co., most will pay something like %75 of the value of property out side the home.
Then the what ever your deductible is. Then go after her for those totals. It's better then nothing. Sorry about your loss.
 
Wow man, what a complete shame ... I hope it all works out for you, even if you take her to court and get a judgement there is no guarantee of getting paid ... :(

We have my camera equipment listed on our insurance so it is covered.

Awesome!!!! That's got to be a HUGE sigh of relief for you. I'm glad she just paid for it instead of having it be a big hassel. Enjoy the new camera.
 
It came to $2600 from B&H in NYC. I ordered the gear myself - 30D+Grip+24-70L :D
It arrives on friday in time for the event I was going to shoot on saturday!!!

I guess she learned her lesson. Your buddy must have really chewed her out as well.

Man... I am glad it worked out. Sadly (knowing myself), I have a feeling if it were my camera, the bail bond price would have far exceeded the amount I lost on the camera. Depening on how fast the friends jumped in and how fast the police arrived... I would be looking at anything from simple assult, to resisting arrest and maybe worse!
 
Well now you gotta new camera woo-hoo! Too bad you may have lost some valuable shots.

This is why I may be buying the extended warranty at circuit city that covers accidental damage for 4 years.
 
That's good news, opie. It's a good thing you didn't slice and dice her as others would have done. Your supposed to save that for when they don't pay up. I bet she learned from her mistake (we all make them).

I hate to be the first to ask this question but.....

What are you doing with the water damaged 24-70L? I understand it was flooded and the electronics ruined, but there's a lot of valuable glass in there. I wonder what Canon service would charge to open it up, replace the electronics/mechanics, clean the lense elements, and put it back together. It would be a salvage job, but it could end up costing a bit less than $1100.

In short, if you're going to throw it out, I'd gladly pay shipping to have it sent my way. :D I think it's worth getting a quote, anyhow....
