OT......spring...drag racing???

Little late joining this thread, but I've got a boosted Miata and an all motor hatch I just picked up.

Ive had quite a few DSM's, and a few bikes as well. My brothers and I own our own shop now, Autotecx.com, feel free to stop on by if you guys need anything...you can check out our shop tank too..:D

got my new vac... pump on ! spring is on its way.

I just started reading up more on them... Is yours an electric pump, or did you find a mechanical one that works for you ???

I've seen some people pipe them into their headers, but read this wont get enough vacuum to do a proper job of pulling out from the crankcase. I would hope somebody makes a simple kit for a windsor, but I havent found too many options yet.....

What brand kit did you go with ???

Don't forget about the valve relief that needs to be installed on the opposite valve cover it will come with shims to regulate also I'm guessing of pulling no more than 11-12 inches of vacum depending on your rings. One more thing always prime the inlet of the vacum pump with a couple drops of oil this will keep the paddle lubricated on startup. Hope this helps and hope to see some of you :fish2: people out at the track. LOL

if you look in the pics. the header deal is what im running now. i already have the vac reg welded in the driver valve cover see first pic. i went with the moroso mech vac. pump with a moroso mandrel. too high compression for the header setup.
all my buddys run the morosos with no problems

The header mounts evecs dont work well enough for street use. Theres not enough velocity to pull a good vacumm. Vacumm pumps work well on engine with low tension rings. Thats where you will see the most gain.

Sb62NOVA you run a vacumm releive valve with header mout evac set up? I run header mounts but no vacumm releive vavle and have no issues.

that is closed up . lol i knew it wouldnt pull enought vac. to use it but i knew someday id go to a vac pump. so while we welded in the bungs in the valve cover i figured we better do it ahead of time. w:spin1:

its a little late to be joining in on this one but i just found it. i have a 2001 civic, im 17 have no job and these hobbies suck money out of me any time i get some. but the car is done until i get a job. dont mind the hood pins my hood latch seized up and i spent about a week tring to get it unstuck and then gave up and didnt have the money for a new one so i spent 10 bucks on these. and they are close because they were two perfect holes already in the fmic support.
