rccub23, I get your point here. I was a Unoin worker too, up until last year. To answer your question, Chevy's Malibu DOES in FACT get 30-35 MPG. My Dad has one and he drives 148 miles round trip to work & back each day. He's an old guy who pumps x amount of fuel, hits the trip and then watches his miles. He does the math with every fill up, x amount of gallons times x amount of miles and then has x amount of miles out of each tank. He tells me all the time that the car get's what it claims. Plus he says thats how he knows when it's time for the tune up. He bought it because of it's size (roomy) and fuel claim (30-35) he wanted the camery, but Chevy's deal turned out better.
I had a few guy's give me chit, about driving a Bettle bug once when at the Unoin shop. I stop that real fast too, I told them in front of a butt load of guys, YOU buy me the American car, and YOU fill it up every week and I'll drive it faithfully, until then shut up, Or meet me out in the street. Thank God other guy's chimed in on my side, cause I didn't want to go out in the street, that was going to hurt , ME!!
I bought a brand new ford truck once, a 1994 F-150, and the tranny went out while under warrenty, they had to replace it and told me this: Don't worry this truck has the Mazda tranny, we'll have it replace in a few days, your lucky it didn't have Ford's tranny, cause we don't have any on hand we have to oder them which can take a few days to get them in??? And the Dogde NEON that my wife use to have was a 1999 and it had a mistubeshi<<(not sure if that spelled right) engine under it.

Bottom line, any car you buy will benefit multiple economies.
