OT TWC losses Sabers

I'm not happy with TWC either, my rates have gone up $30 a month in the last year. I can't drop them though, because they are the only source for high speed internet. If only I had FIOS in my area! Remember that Direct TV will be up for renewal with MSG later this year and go through the same thing DISH and TWC have. MSG is pushing this matter, not the service providers.

I'm blaming it all on MSG. Usually TWC are out to jack up rates but MSG is asking for outlandish pricing. I believe MSG will only be available on it's own personal network...lol.

I'm also putting this on MSG. MSG has had issues with Dishnet, Verizon, and now TimeWarner. I'd love for the Sabres to be on another network, but it looks like MSG and the Sabres are under contract until 2016 or 2017.

Definitely on MSG. I had DishNetwork & wasn't able to see any of the Sabres' games last year except those that were on Versus. When our contract was up we went back to DirecTV. No complaints. Just keep a Super soaker handy in the winter in the event the dish gets covered with wet snow. I believe they're running a special now that will give you NHL Center Ice package free for the remainder of the season. When I signed up they offered the NFL package.

How much was TWC paying MSG before? If they were underpaying them by a ridiculous amount, the 53% increase could be warranted, and bring MSG up to the rates they deserve. I'm not going to put this all on the shoulders of MSG quite yet.

That's about the same increase they were trying to get out of DishNetwork. MSG isn't the only sports programming these companies buy. They know the value & it's quite obvious that MSG is asking too much. Add into the mix that MSG also wants them to carry some low rated music channel at an additional cost.

I'd love to see Pegulla buy his way out of the contract with MSG and find a new broadcast for the Sabres. Bring back Empire! :D

Me too but I don't think its going to happen.

My buddy said that Ted Black said yesterday that without atleast a MLB team, a sports channel in this area isn't viable.

I would love for the Sabres to get off of MSG. I can't stand the fact that their games are on that channel, when my favorite team (Rangers) aren't. The Rangers play at the arena that the network was named after! What really Ts me off is that I have to buy Center Ice just to watch them now.

There is a rumour out there that these 2 sides had a agreed on a 6.5% increase but when it came time to do the deal, MSG backed out and demanded 53%. Personally I think they are trying to rake TW through the coals for a few reasons...

A. MSG is owned by CableVision a HUGE competitor of TW in the NYC Market and that's where a majority of MSG sports are aired from.
B. When TW bought TV rights for Lakers games in LA for $4 Billion that set out a red flag to everyone. Couple that with them buying LA Galaxy rights for $40 Mill and you see how much $ Time Warner has.

Well, me thinks that MSG wants a bigger cut of the pie and wants more $ because A.) TW doesnt want to carry the FUSE network or whatever it is (<1% of TV Viewing is on that channel) and B.) TW is now taking their own dip into the sports rights ownership market.

Now there are reports that Cablevision and MSG are trying to buy rights to air Dodgers games in LA. Hmmm... a company buying TV rights to sports in LA... Where have I heard that recently?

Bottom line is this is a ****ing contest between both, I think MSG is more to blame for trying to suck extra $ out of Time Warner. Either way, there is only 1 group of people that will suffer and that's us. It blows.

Rangers games were blacked out long before Sabres signed onto MSG weren't they?

Atleast you have the center ice option...

I don't think so. Rangers games weren't blacked out because we are more than 75 (or 90?) miles away from NYC. It was nice having Empire and MSG. I could watch hockey 4 or 5 nights a week without having to buy any extra package.
