Alright alright, so I thought that I would add to my ever so hectic life and become an uber driver. Tonight was my first night on the job and I did a little write up for the Nissan Frontier forum that I am on. I didn't think that I would have gotten passed the visual inspection to drive for uber as my truck has a small lift, wide tires and a tire-gate instead of a tailgate ohh and a giant fox sticker on the rear window.
So this was my last post on the thread on the clubfrontier.com forum:
Ok so first Uber night was a success. I must say this process is not difficult and I had a lot of fun. I am going to give a time line and breakdown on everything up until this point.
Tuesday 12/1/2015:
Signed up for an Uber partners account.
I submitted Vehicle licence plate number, registration papers, insurance information, and SSN.
Wednesday 12/2/2015:
Passed DMV background check
Friday 12/4/2015
Complete background check is completed and passed.
Sunday 12/6/2015:
Vehicle passes mechanical inspection and I am given the green light to drive.
First clock in to start driving- 8:45pm
Clocked out at 10:50pm
Total miles from clock in to clock out was 45.8
Total miles while on route to pick up and drop off is 22.4 miles.
I made 6 pickup and drop offs
And my payout for what I worked was $30.74
Now I babied the truck and never took it over 2k on the tack.
Overall thoughts on signing up-
Somewhat easy to get started and on the road.
Worth it? I'm not sure at this point. I did have a lot of fun talking to the people I was driving around. I picked up the manager at a local diner and he offered me a free meal next time I come in. And I picked up three wasted people that loved my truck and asked if they got picked up by Uber Off-Road (that would be so sick), and if we were pre running to their house haha. So made a few bucks back on the fronty and had a good time, but there are defiantly more economical vehicles that are suited for this job. I hope this helps some of you guys make the leap.
